CHAPTER TWELVE An early morning walk cleared most of the negative energy—or at least used up so much physical energy Charlotte had less time to dwell on the emotions of the previous night. The sun wasn’t showing itself as she reached the bottom of the falls and stopped, hands on knees, to catch her breath. She’d carried a pocket flashlight to use on the descent, knowing how treacherous the ground was underfoot. This whole scenic area needed proper attention to fill potholes, repair broken railings and steps, and make the track safe.
