Prologue ∆ The werewolf is a mythological animal and the subject of many stories throughout the world — and more than a few nightmares. Werewolves are, according to some legends, people who morph into vicious, powerful wolves. Others are a mutant combination of human and wolf. But all are bloodthirsty beasts who cannot control their lust for killing people and animals. It’s unclear exactly when and where the werewolf legend originated. Some scholars believe the werewolf made its debut in The Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known Western prose, when Gilgamesh jilted a potential lover because she had turned her previous mate into a wolf. Werewolves made another early appearance in Greek mythology with the Legend of Lycaon. According to the legend, Lycaon, the son of Pelasgus, angered the god Zeus when he served him a meal made from the remains of a sacrificed boy. As punishment, the enraged Zeus turned Lycaon and his sons into wolves. Werewolves also emerged in early Nordic folklore. The Saga of the Volsungs tells the story of a father and son who discovered wolf pelts that had the power to turn people into wolves for ten days. The father-son duo donned the pelts, transformed into wolves and went on a killing rampage in the forest. Their rampage ended when the father attacked his son, causing a lethal wound. The son only survived because a kind raven gave the father a leaf with healing powers. Vampires are evil mythological beings who roam the world at night searching for people whose blood they feed upon. They may be the best-known classic monsters of all. Most people associate vampires with Count Dracula, the legendary, blood-sucking subject of Bram Stoker’s epic novel, Dracula, which was published in 1897. But the history of vampires began long before Stoker was born. There are almost as many different characteristics of vampires as there are vampire legends. But the main characteristic of vampires (or vampyres) is they drink human blood. They typically drain their victim’s blood using their sharp fangs, killing them and turning them into vampires. In general, vampires hunt at night since sunlight weakens their powers. Some may have the ability to morph into a bat or a wolf. Vampires have super strength and often have a hypnotic, sensual effect on their victims. They can’t see their image in a mirror and cast no shadows. But you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. In a world full of vampires and werewolves, there were many different legends. Many different ways to tell the story of viscous creatures that don't belong in the world, simply because they aren't human. The werewolf gene is genetic, passed down generation after generation, all packs around the world are proud of who and what they are. But of course, there were a few things they naturally hated. Vampires being the main thing. However, in the changing times, there is a union forming between the two species. For the first time, an alliance — a truce — was to be formed between werewolves and vampires, two enemies offering to put aside their differences to handle the growing number of rogues wandering the world. The ones who were either kicked out or chose to leave, becoming dangerous, bloodthirsty, killing everything and everyone they can get their hands on, whether it be supernatural or human. Most werewolf packs are on high alert because of the growing issue, simply because they're more common in some areas like Blue Ridge, Georgia. The mountains covered in trees providing plenty of hiding places for rogues, hiding just outside of the borders and attacking the pups, sometimes even killing them. Because of that, the Alpha of the Graystone pack had to assign Warriors to patrol the border of the territory with the Sentinels. Warriors are the protector of the pack, they make sure the pack is safe from rogues or intruders, they are very strong and agile, though they could never outrank their alpha as they are very loyal and are known to carry out their alphas order, sometimes they are the ones to take out the punishment or execution. Sentinels are to ensure that the pack is safe by patrolling the territory and watching the movements of the surroundings, to make sure that no intruders enter the clearing. In doing so, it is a Sentinel's responsibility to greet new visitors and learn why they are here and where they come from. Being in that position, it is the their job to make sure each new visitor that comes into the clearing has good intentions as well. Every pack views omegas differently, but there are a few views that are common. Omegas are considered to be the lowest rank of the pack, making sure the pack house is clean, food on the table, taking care of the children or the gardening to make the whole house look presentable an inviting. But the omegas of the Graystone pack are also considered to be punching bags for the higher ranks, if they find one little thing wrong, the blame instantly goes to the omegas, and the higher ranks are allowed to ensure punishment. There's nothing the omegas could do to fight back, having no knowledge of combat or protecting themselves, and the Alpha says nothing of it, and the omegas do their best to not anger the Alpha, because his punishments are the worst of it all. One omega had been under the watchful eye of Alpha Jacoby Graystone, always finding something small and sometimes even petty, just so he could punish her. But little did he know, one meeting would change everything.
