Chapter 1
Marielle's POV: “Tonight, Marielle gets her wolf,” Prince Jaxon said — his deep, masculine voice stroking places I never knew existed inside me. Yeah.. tonight is my twenty first birthday, the time for the Blue Moon She-wolves to have their wolf and recognize their fated mate. I have waited all my life for this. Finally, I will meet my mate and leave this god forsaken pack. Prince Jaxon seemed concerned about it… and that made a smile tugged at the corners of my lips. Is he planning a surprise birthday party by any chance? But then.. the chances of that are slim. He doesn’t even spare me a glance. Prince Jaxon Wolfe is the Alpha heir of my pack, the BlueMoon Pack. He is so handsome, yet so dangerous. And damn… I'm so attracted to him—I have been in love with the cold gray gazed prince since I was sixteen. I wished he was mine… but then he wasn't and can never be. “Then I lost my own boyfriend,” my elder sister—Maya—chipped in, her voice harder than I have ever heard. “I can't understand why that b***h keeps taking everything that has ever belonged to me.“ My hand weakened around the doorknob to her room. She had warned me never to come to her room, but I had come here to get her for breakfast before I stumbled on their conversation. My mouth parted opened in shock at how my sister talked about me with so much disgust and hatred. “Calm down, Maya,” Jaxon's voice came again. “Although she is my mate but that doesn't mean I would break up with you just like that. We can work something out.“ My breath seized. My body trembled. I’m Jaxon's mate? The He-wolves in the BlueMoon Pack get their wolf when they turned eighteen years and that means… Jaxon already knew I was his mate since seven years ago and he didn't say a word. “Work what out?“ Maya spits. “You have to reject her, Jaxon…. even that would be difficult given that she still had that stupid crush on you. I bet she'd cry out, beg you to accept her and then… the Alpha would order you to accept her.” “You know rejection is against the pack law and as the Prince heir i shouldn't be the one to break the law…” The pack is strict against rejection. “Anyone who rejects their fated mates would be exiled because they believe to have been cursed by the Moon Goddess.“ In the pack, you can't date anyone openly unless it's been confirmed that you don't have a fated mate and that is why Jaxon and Maya have been secretly for three years now. I was one of the few people who knew and that was because Jaxon comes here every time since she can't go to his palace because it would raise suspicions. “I don't care!“ Maya snapped, cutting him off sharply. “Just find a way to get rid of her. I want her out of my life forever.” “But she is your sister.“ “No… she is the girl that killed my mother and I will never forgive her for it.“ When I was younger, I was playing by the poolside when someone pushed me from behind. As I called for help… my mother jumped in to save me but she drowned in the process. I’m the reason… mama died. Since then, my father and sister hated me—they think I'm cursed. I was the Beta's daughter, yet I was treated worse than a Omega. But I never knew it was this deep… to the level where she'd take my mate and even wanted to get rid of me. “Come here, babe,” Jaxon said softly. “Mate or not, you're the one I love and I promise that I will figure this out.“ His words echoed in my ears relentlessly—sharp and heart-wenching. He was my fated mate — the one who was supposed to love and protect me. But there he was, whispering promises to my sister. A tear rolled down my cheeks. My heart ripped into a thousand shards when I heard Maya's moans and whimpers. “Oh… my Alpha…. fuck.” I forced myself to turn away and with shaky legs, I walked out of the cold, suffocating hallway. As I made my way to my room, my thoughts spiraled into chaos, so I stumbled onto someone. “Watch it, you cursed b***h,” Father cursed out. He was staggering with a bottle of alcohol in his hand. “Are you not only cursed but also blind now?“ I quickly wiped off my tears. Not like he cared anyways—if anything, he would mock me and call me weak. “I'm sorry, Father,” I whispered. Father's hand reached out and tilted my face up to look at him. “Are you crying?“ “N—no.“ My lips trembled. Then he looked towards Marielle's room. “You found out, don't you?“ He sneered, his tone dripping with mockery. “You found out the Prince is your fated mate?“ My heart sank. “You knew?!“ I can't believe he knows and still, he kept quiet. He threw my head away, then pushed me hard against the wall, his hand wrapping around my neck—not tight enough to hurt me. “Of course,” he spat through gritted teeth. “And you keep quiet. If you dare say a word about this… then I will end your pathetic life. Jaxon will marry Maya and she'll become his Luna.“ I wrapped my hand around his wrist. “But he is my mate.“ Father tightened his grip and air disappeared from my throat. “You don't deserve a mate—let alone someone like him! You shut up or I kill you.“ I couldn't breathe clearly now, so I slapped his hand weakly. “You're… hurting… me.“ “Understood?“ “Yes,” I choked out. Father left me, belch on my face and walked away. Letting out a guttural growl, I stumbled to the floor with hot tears streaming down my cheeks. If mama was alive… then all these won't be happening. I pushed myself up , walked into my room, packed my bag and made my way out of the mansion through the back door. ———- “Happy birthday, Marielle,” I whispered the moment the time struck twelve. I filled the glass with alcohol, hold it up and then gulped it down—the liquid slide down my throat but not enough to burn out the pain lunged at my chest. I had left because I was afraid that Maya might really kill me like she said. I took the next available train out of the kingdom to anywhere at all. And here i am, in a strange kingdom; I didn’t even know the name or anyone at all. I had no money or knew whst next either. I walked around aimlessly, until I found myself standing in front of a bar at the outskirts of town, so I decided to come in to celebrate my birthday since no one would celebrate me. Pathetic, isn’t it? I’m alone on my birthday and also rejected even before I’m mated. I had always thought that my mate would at least be different from my family—love me—but I was sorely mistaken. All of a sudden… I felt something awakening inside me and a surge of energy coursed through me. My chest pounded louder than the bass echoing through the room. My breath seized when I saw my fangs elongated and my claws sharpened around the glass… then in a blink of an eye, everything returned back to normal. My body trembled. For a second, I thought I was imagining things — until the voice echoed softly inside my mind. “Hey, nice to meet you Marielle. I’m Eve, your wolf.” I was not too ecstatic to meet her but then, she is my wolf…. and an important part of me. “Welcome.” “Thank you.” Then she growled sadly. “It’s a pity our mate doesn’t want us.” I forced a sad smile at her. “We’ll be fine, Eve. Let’s drink away tonight and leave tomorrow to worry.” The moment I said that, she went hollow inside me. But I didn’t bother… I have a lot on my plate already. I turned towards the bartender—a young lady with blonde hair. “Give me your strongest drink please.” She didn’t reply; she was staring ahead of me. “It’s really strange… the MC—the motorcycle club Rogue Alpha—has been staring at you since you walked in.”
