A night to remember

492 Words
When Gabriella arrived at Mark’s house, her heart raced as she spotted him outside, leaning against the doorframe with a welcoming smile that made her knees feel weak. He pushed off the doorframe and approached her car, his charm evident as he opened the door with a flourish. “Wow, twice in one night,” he joked, matching her stride as she stepped out, his eyes twinkling in the low light. As they entered the house, Gabriella’s breath caught in her throat. A blanket fort covered the living room floor, laden with snacks, drinks, and a flickering screen playing the Hallmark Channel in the background. “This is… incredible!” she gasped, genuinely touched. “No one’s ever done something like this for me,” Gabriella admitted, her heart warming as they settled onto the mountain of soft blankets. Laughter echoed around the room, punctuated by flickers of romantic movie scenes as they munched on popcorn and candy. Every moment shared felt like a step closer to something deepening between them. As the hours drifted by, neither of them could shake the feeling that something significant was happening. Their palms brushed occasionally, igniting sparks of connection that neither had the courage to voice. But the world outside didn’t wait, and soon Dominic and Sam would arrive to collect Gabriella, even though she had her own car. Gabriella sighed, realizing that their time was coming to a close. Mark noticed her expression. “What’s wrong?” he asked gently. “Nothing,” she said, her heart caught in the moment. “I just wish I didn’t have to go.” With a nervous but determined look, he rubbed the back of his neck, searching for courage within. “Actually, I wanted to ask you something.” He paused; a silence pressed between them, heavy with unspoken hopes. “Would you want to be my girlfriend?” A smile blossomed on Gabriella’s face, lighting up her entire being. “Yes!” she exclaimed, unable to contain her happiness. Excited shouts erupted from outside as Sam and Dominic prepared to swoop in, eager to hear the news. Gabriella almost skipped to the porch, taking Mark’s hand, their fingers intertwining effortlessly. “We’re official!” she exclaimed, and Sam cheered from the car, her voice loud and joyful. “Give her a kiss! What are you waiting for?” As laughter bubbled around them, Mark leaned in, and they shared a soft kiss, immortalized by Sam’s eager camera shutter clicking right as they pulled back. Gabriella had never felt so alive in a moment that was equal parts sweet and slightly awkward. Sam’s laughter rang out as she revealed the captured image, complete with their faces flushed and Mark’s hand awkwardly flicking a peace sign in the background. “Best night ever!” Gabriella declared, her eyes sparkling as they finally parted. She headed back toward her car, knowing full well this was just the beginning.
