Love and Belief that Ruined Lives
I was 23 at the time, riding in the car with my dad, uncle, and brother, looking for a decent institution where my brother could study for his degree while playing football, something that he always wanted to do. After several hours of searching, my father gave up and decided that we would pray to God about the college. He then pulled his Bible out of his backpack and randomly opened a page, hoping that God would speak to him through that. Because Protestants have that viewpoint. They concluded that God had spoken with them through the bible. Everyone experiences this, yet some individuals choose to ignore what the believers have to say, while the majority firmly believe this to be true. My parents then looked for a college, prayed to God, and also read the Bible to make sure it was the institution for my brother. Finally, they concluded that it is the college where my brother should study. I remained silent at the time because I was a firm believer and felt what my parents did was the right thing to do. My brother wasn't thrilled about what my parents were going to do, but he had no choice but to accept their advice because, at the time, he always paid attention to what my parents said. "I don't want to stay in a hostel," he sobbed. "Everything will be alright," mom assured him. He just smiled to make them happy, covering his grief; and went inside the hostel. At that point, he learned that phones are not permitted inside the hostel. He didn't weep, but I could tell by the look on his face that he was not at all happy. But for the time being, he was content that he could at least play football. It was his dream to become a football player. But Dad had other plans for him. We discovered after a few months that he had leaped from the hostel and was not returning. He planned to stay outside with his new buddies. He never drank or smoked cigarettes, but after moving into the hostel, he did because he met new friends who did. My brother's football career was cut short because of our parents' beliefs. He stopped listening to our parents after that. Five years have gone by, and still, I can bring back every detail of that day. As the older brother, I should have taken action, such as asking our parents to reconsider pressuring him to enroll in that college. However, since everything happened so quickly, I didn't even have time to think about his future. He even failed his examinations despite using tobacco products and alcohol. It's interesting how memories work. Before all of this, I fell in love with a girl named Riya who I assumed would eventually become my wife. I didn't recognize the truth of love at that time since I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, where we didn't have much freedom to move about. I had no idea that you could merely get flirted with. For Instance, even my closest friend from Saudi Arabia, with whom I spent nine years, texted me one day to express her love for someone, saying she couldn't even utter their name correctly worrying that I would learn who it is. "Who is it?" I inquired. "The name starts with J," she answered. I questioned her again, but this time with excitement, believing that she was talking about me. "The last letter, please" It's the Letter N, she replied. I instantly inquired whether it was me. I . . she stammered; while recording the voice note, I . . I Love You. I was shocked when she said that because I had a crush on her. And because I believed that things would work out for the best, I agreed to her proposal. Praising God for providing me with a lovely woman to spend the rest of my life with. The interesting thing about that situation is that she approached me to be her boyfriend when I had my degree exams the very following week. However, I was unaware that everything was only for show. We communicated for two days, and on the second day, she told me not to contact or text her since she was going to her uncle's place. I agreed with her request. She also promised to text me the next day. She didn't, though. As all loved ones do, I waited till night after waiting all day. However, she didn't show up, and to my astonishment, she blocked me from all the social media sites where she is my friend, including w******p, i********:, and f*******:. I was devastated as I wondered how easily she ended our long friendship with the word "Love." Actually, she loved someone else instead of me and she was just flirting with me. And also she even had s*x with the people she flirted with. It really broke my heart while hearing that too. I got confused about our beliefs and started questioning them at times. Because if God was really there, he wouldn't have done this, making me suffer like this. Even if I occasionally questioned my beliefs as the days went by, I didn't abandon them. On freshers day at my institution, I noticed a lot of girls, my juniors strolling by. I was hoping to get an opportunity to meet some of them. That's when I spotted a gorgeous girl named Miriam. I had feelings for her and desired to somehow be with her. She doesn't even know who I am. But I could see she wanted to. It was Onam, a festival celebrated by the people of Kerala, I never stopped thinking about that day. The day we first spoke to one another, she returned with her companions to the hostel, I initially started following her. Some of the girls and boys who were my juniors were her pals. They used to accompany her on daily walks to the hostel. Her birthday was soon approaching; I'll never forget that day. Her close buddy, who was one of her college instructors at the time, went to visit his girlfriend a week before her birthday. He spent time with her and didn't realize that my girl was watching them both from a distance. She, therefore, wanted to confirm if her close buddy is engaged or dating. Additionally, the instructor bet with her closest buddy that he doesn't have a girlfriend, and he challenged her to see if she could find it out. She was so desperate to learn the truth that she contacted my junior and instructed him to look for it so that she would give him a Galaxy Chocolate. I quickly got dressed as I was waiting for this opportunity and informed him I would assist him with this. I just wanted to speak with her because I was attracted to her. Since he had to follow my instructions as a senior, my junior had no other option. He then contacted her and informed her that he would be bringing me along as well and that I would not let him go alone. She first rejected me when she heard this because she didn't want to deal with me as I was a senior. But she had no choice but to accept it since, in order to win the bet, she needed to learn the truth about her close buddy. But she had no choice but to accept it since, in order to win the bet, she needed to learn the truth about her close buddy. We circled the 2-kilometer walking route many times but were unable to spot the instructor or his partner. Once we arrived at the hostel, he asked her to come out since she had already promised him a Galaxy Chocolate. She had to get one for me as I was also there. Her mother and one of her sisters, a dentist, traveled from Kerala to pay her a visit because it was her birthday. She organized a little party and invited her friends, including my juniors. When she contacted them, I got dressed again with no remorse. She was shocked to see me there, but she was helpless to intervene. She, therefore, approved of it. After visiting her mother and sister, we returned to the hotel for the treat. We chatted for a while before leaving the restaurant. As we got down the restaurant steps, I suddenly felt moved to give her a birthday bump on the back. Everyone was shocked to see what I had done, and she hadn't even imagined this possibility. She yelled, "I'll kill you!" No one chose to speak because they respected me. Therefore, everyone laughed except for her. There was where we first became friends. After a few months of getting to know one another, we became brother and sister. She had a boyfriend who, unknown to her, was having numerous affairs with other women. I discovered this, and as a result, she came to trust me even more. When I made the decision to ask her to love me, one of my closest friends, Sujith, decided to propose to her. He told me that he liked her and that he would text her to tell her that he loved her. I just said, "Okay, continue on, even though I don't approve." She declined his marriage proposal, much to my delight. When I heard this, I suddenly proposed to her and told her that she needed to respond to my question within five minutes. But she added: "No, I require more time to think. Please, at least one day ". I kept asking her since I was hoping to hear "Yes" the very following day, and eventually, she responded. Our relationship began then, and I worshipped God and cried out to him to thank him for creating this girl to be my wife. But after that, it continued for 4 years, and the thing I remember is what she said when her mother declared she wouldn't accept love marriages. I will only marry the guy I love, she declared. When her mother heard this, she said nothing but went to school because she was a teacher. As she was there, she fell from the second floor and fell into a coma for two days. So Miriam made the decision to end this connection at that point. I was completely depressed and feared I was going crazy since I had been wandering aimlessly for days. I started smoking and drinking because I wanted to forget about everything since I was so into her. Due to my inability to focus on my academics, even I performed poorly in my subjects. At that point, I stopped believing in God. However, everything does occur for a purpose. There will be a better tomorrow. The thinking still makes me feel absolutely unbearable.
