The Banner in the Rose Garden
That evening, the sun cast a soft golden glow through the gaps in the dense trees of the Rose Garden. The cheerful laughter of Aric and Kael filled the fresh air as they ran across the green field, scattered with blooming roses in shades of pink and white. Both boys were panting, but their faces were lit up with joy.
Aric, with his tousled brown hair and bright blue eyes, leapt from one stone to another, while Kael, with his short black hair and sharp green eyes, raced after him with agile steps. They had been playing all day, honing their skills with wooden swords and racing through obstacles they had created in the forest.
“Kael, look! I’m almost at the finish line!” Aric called out, waving his hand toward the line they had made from twigs.
Kael, catching his breath, smiled and quickened his pace. “No way! I’m going to win!” he said, and with one final leap, he overtook Aric, landing dramatically next to the finish line.
They both burst into happy laughter as they fell onto the grass, rolling around and chuckling heartily. After a few minutes, they sat back on the ground, enjoying the tranquil serenity of the forest.
“Tomorrow, we need to start serious training,” Aric said, catching his breath. “Baron Teressiaer has called the village youths to join the knight training. I can’t wait to begin.”
Kael nodded, his smile unwavering. “Yeah, me too. That’s our promise, isn’t it? One day, we’ll become the greatest knights and serve Baron Teressiaer with all our hearts.”
They sat by the edge of a gentle-flowing stream, gazing into the distance. Suddenly, amid the forest sounds and the trickling water, they noticed something unusual. A bright yellow banner with three red apples was fluttering in the distance, as if dancing in the air. This banner was the emblem of Baron Teressiaer, their village lord.
Aric and Kael exchanged curious and excited glances. “What’s the Baron doing here?” Aric asked.
“It looks like something important,” Kael replied. “Let’s follow that banner.”
They got up from their spot and ran towards the direction of the banner, following the path that led to the village. As they approached, they could see more clearly that Baron Teressiaer was holding a significant meeting in the village square. Villagers were gathered around, looking anxious but attentive.
Aric and Kael managed to edge closer to the crowd and stood at the edge, listening to the Baron’s address. With eyes full of wisdom and a firm voice, Baron Teressiaer explained that their village was facing a great threat. Dark forces from the forest had begun to seep out, and they needed the help of knights to protect the village and their lands.
“Aric, Kael,” called the Baron, spotting them among the crowd. “You two are the youths we have been hoping would join the knight training. Our village needs you.”
They looked at each other with shining eyes. This was the moment they had dreamed of. They would begin fulfilling their promise to become knights and serve Baron Teressiaer. As the sun set, marking the beginning of a journey full of challenges and adventure, Aric and Kael stood tall, ready to face whatever lay ahead.
