I went to O’Kelley’s Thursday night knowing Melody would be home with Amber. I didn’t want to risk running into her. We hadn’t spoken or seen each other since we slept together, and it was killing me, but I knew if I saw her, I’d beg her to forgive me without thinking through how I needed to apologize. I loved her too much.
Hudson set a beer in front of me with a hard thud and walked away. I looked around, wondering what he was so pissed off about. It wasn’t too crazy for a Thursday night, but something was bugging him.
I shrugged and drank my beer, barely paying attention to all the people around me. Only when Piper came over with a bill did I realize something was really messed up.
“Where’s Hudson?” I asked her.
“In the back.”
“Why isn’t he out here?”
