Chapter seven

Lucas The previous day I had been running around making sure the decorations where right, and this day I was standing ready at the center of the room, as my pack members were all around talking and having fun while guests entered. I was a nervous wreck hoping to really find my Cinderella. Even my wolf was twirling and jumping excitedly, and I couldn’t help but feel like running around. Maybe I should have gone for a run with my wolf before the party started. I looked at the time. The party started barely 10 minutes ago, and I was still waiting on greeting some of the pack leaders. “Hey man, you ready?” Kyle slammed me on the back. “Oh yeah sure. Ready to meet my soulmate always. What’s there to be nervous about?” “You know there’s a chance we might not find her, or him tonight” “Yeah well, at least the pack will have a Luna soon.” I sighed at the thought. I had seen what my parents had and wanted the same thing. My sister hadn’t gotten the chance to get her mate as she was married of to another Alpha. She was happy I knew that. I just wonder more about the blessed mate the Goddess gave us from birth. “Would you want to dance alpha?” a beautiful girl came up and asked me. I smiled politely as I took her outstretched hand. “It would be my pleasure” I replied kissing her hand softly leading her towards the dance floor. Kyle gave me a quick look as encouraging me. It couldn’t be all too bad. Someone did seem to want me. Even though she was not my mate I needed to keep the option open. She might be something very special to me any way. “Please call me Lucas, though” I smiled, as I laid my hand on her waist and one in her hand. I knew way too much of dancing due to my family’s background of being very wealthy and very known in both the human and werewolf world. “Melody” She smiled back at me. She wasn’t too bad at this dancing thing either and I found myself enjoying it. “So, Melody. How are you finding yourself this evening?” “I am having quite a nice time, specially with you on my arm” She commented back. I couldn’t help but smile. Here she was flirting with me, and I was thinking about way too many things. I shouldn’t have been so uptight. “You are quite a good dancer indeed” I complimented. I suddenly noticed the smell that filled the whole room like a wildfire. My wolf surfaced and fought hard for full control of my body. I tried to fight only because I was having a dance with this lovely woman in front of me. “I’m so sorry but I do have to leave you” I tried to not sound so happy as my wolf was mostly doing back flips. I softly let go of Melody as I kissed her hand and started following the scent. It seemed like I had encounter this once before, yet I couldn’t really pinpoint it at all. I could tell the ventilation worked a bit too good as the smell seemed to run around crazy in the room and I was driving myself mad looking for the face that followed it. I noticed her standing frozen at the door. Her red sunset red hair and her soft features. She was shorter than me and I couldn’t feel how everything changed in that moment as I admired her. I wanted to run up and mark her right there. My heart was running wild as if leaving my body.   Sophia I didn’t exactly feel like partying when I woke the morning of Dark Moon Alpha’s birthday. His name was Lucas Adalwolf. The name itself called him noble, and I hated that. There was no chance that I would enjoy myself in all that luxury. Or at least that is what I told myself. I could hardly stand the idea that I would probably see him find his mate among my pack members. Sure, there was other packs, and it might be one of them. If I was late maybe I didn’t have to see him find her. “You know, you can’t just rip his head off, right?” Adam’s voice came from my door. I was still lying in my bed debating on whether I should get up and get ready for the party. It started at 15 but there was still a long drive there despite sharing boarders with them. “You are completely sure?” I asked looking up at him. “I know that it will make you keep the rumour of being the vicious Alpha of Silver Moon, but it will also great enemies of his allies. And he has gained a lot over the years.” He continued as he walked in and sat in my bed. “What if you did it? I could just hide you away. They would understand the best friend of my brother driven mad after his passing and …” I didn’t get to finish as he tried to silence me. “You are very smart and caring, but that idea is one of your worst” He told me blunt. “Really? I was pretty sure taking my revenge in a public place would show how strong I am as a leader” I smirked at him. I knew he was right and that I shouldn’t do it but I could just feel such a strong feeling towards the guy, even though I hadn’t really met him and I kept thinking it was hate and revenge. --- Arriving at the party I had felt this really strong sent all the way. I had wanted to come earlier than the others but still late. I managed to not quite be there before my crew, but that made sense since I kept staring in the mirror. I was wearing this really cute dress in blue with a skirt out and right where the top met there was a hole showing a little more off than necessary, but I like it that way. Look cute and adorable while being the strongest one of them all there. The sent reminded me of something I had smelled once before when I was younger and the closer, I got the stronger and more intoxicating it became. I felt my wolf starting to stir and try to get to the surface. I couldn’t lose control. Ever. But I wanted to lose myself in the sent. Adam beside me pulled me out of it and I had to try focus on it. I somehow knew Mate was close and I wanted to sprint there, but my brain kept me sane. “What’s up with you?” Adam asked me rather concerned. I looked up at him trying to just smile. “Nothing, I just feel this really good scent coming out. I think it’s the forest that’s just pulling me” I breathed. I could see the concerned look in Adam’s eyes become bigger. He might know just the same as I did, or what I at least hoped. “It’s like burned wood” I continued as if there was probably just a bonfire at the party. As one of my guards opened my door the scent shot me right in my face and I felt myself run. I was wearing heals which was terrible to walk in but as soon as the scent reached my nostrils, I couldn’t feel it anymore. All I could feel was the power that shoot through me and right to the front door. I silently begged for control back from my wolf, but she wouldn’t budge. As if she knew something I didn’t. As I was standing looking for the source of the scent, I regained control and tried to act normal as some of my pack members looked at me since I had opened the doors forcefully announcing my arrival. That’s when I suddenly saw him. He was taller than me, blond hair and a scent so sweet of burned wood that I simply couldn’t ignore. He just stood there silently as well, and I didn’t exactly recognise him. I just heard myself growl. I wanted to scratch his eyes out and mark him at the same time. I was the first one to actually acknowledge what was happening. “Mate” the words came out and I took a few steps towards him wanting to at least acknowledge him, when I felt his arms around me lifting me up into the air and inhaling my scent. I found myself in shock and almost piercing his skin with my teeth. But I held back. He finally put me back down and I realised how much I liked being in his arms. That’s when I looked back and noticed Adam coming closer. “Alpha Adalwolf” Adam proclaimed, and I looked back trying to figure out what he had just said. This was the bastard that had killed my brother. While keeping control over my wolf and the sudden anger I felt and the tears knowing my mate was in fact the one that had killed my brother made me do something I hadn’t thought I would. I punched him so hard with my fist trying to knock him out. And it worked. But suddenly someone was pulling me away while I screamed my longs out at him.
