When their enlistment was almost up, Cole and Cory’s supervisors started encouraging them to reenlist. They were adamant about not reenlisting. They had promised their family they would return to the ranch, and they were determined to honor their promises.
Cory asked Cole if he would stop in Luling and check on Ellie before he returned home. Cory was going straight home, but Cole was stationed closer to Luling and could make a stop there before returning to the ranch. Cole agreed, and he was looking forward to seeing Ellie again.
