Chapter One
"It was a dark and stormy night," Sophie said as she came to a stand still next to James at the window. She stared out the darkening weather tearing up the sky. "For goodness sake, don't tell me that's the first line in the next one of your books." "Buts it's a clasic, a strong one if that," She giggled as she tucked her hand into his and watched the show of lights with him. The rain lashed against the trees, a flash of lightening illuminating the sky for a second, revealing the colours of the hills before fading into the inky blackness again. "How about this - 'it was a dark and stormy night in the castle, and a woman named Sophie was set on seducing her priest.'" The corners of James' mouth turned up slightly. "It's an improvement. A slight improvement." "Everyone's a critic." Sophie stroked the back of his hand, and he lifted it up to his lips for a kiss. He'd arrived in the early hours of the morning, but she'd been so engrossed into her work that they had barely had five minutes together. Finally, the day was done. Her work was complete until tomorrow, and they could hold hands and just be. "Do I want to know what's going on in your head?" Sophie asked him. "I'm just watching the storm," he said, but she could tell something else was going on in there, in his heart. Both of them did. Tomorrow was the day... Everything between her and James would change tomorrow. Finally, it was happening, and there was no going back now. "Getting cold feet about tomorrow?" she asked. "Should I be?" "I am," she admitted. "Big day for us." "I'm at peace," he said. "Although I will admit the peace is hard-won." "We've waited a long time to do this." "It's here now," he said. " We've waited long enough." A clash of thunder interrupted their conversation as they peered out into the storm raging outside the window stretch. "What are you thing?" Sophie asked. "Thinking about a passage," he said. "It's every priest's dream to have God come and speak to him face to face. Even if it it to tell him his limited knowledge about this world. Storms always remind me of his power. It's comforting to know God is more powerful than we." perhaps only a priest can find comfort in being so powerless. Perhaps it was only James that could. "Are you coming to bed?" She asked James. "Not yet. It will be hours before I can sleep." It was nine thirty now, but in New Orleans, where they had been living up until now, it was half past three in the afternoon. "Did I say anything about sleeping?" she asked. "In that case..." James turned from the stormy sky and cupped her face with his hands. He kissed her on the lips, softly at first, a slight touch meant to arouse and torment. Slowly, he deepened the kiss. As much as she wanted to, Sophie didn't rush the moment. She'd spent five weeks here away from James making the preparations for tomorrow. Leaving James for any extended length of time was much like this kiss - torture and teasing. Being away from him hurt. But being reunited after the separation made every second apart worth it. He took her hands in his and brought them up and around his neck. His arms circled around her back and drew her closer, depending the kiss. The heat heat of his body warmed her down to her core. She kissed his lips, his chin, his ear, and his neck. He'd removed his collar for travelling and tonight wore black trousers, a black jacket and a white shirt open at the neck. she pressed her lips into the hollow of his throat, a hollow sculpted just for her lips. And the moment when the kiss was perfect, everything she wanted and needed from him, she heard behind her a small cough. "Ms. Le'Febour?" "God f*****g dammit." Sophie growled the words, and dipped her head to the center of James' chest. "Sophie, you're scaring the staff." James said. She turned her face to the interrupter, a young woman holding a bouquet of flowers. She was pretty, but Sophie didn't care. "You've signed the nondisclosure agreement, haven't you?" Sophie asked, directed at the waitstaff. Tomorrow was being treated like a celebrity wedding with nondisclosure agreements for everyone involved, even remotely. Ever she'd had to sign one. "Yes, ma'am?" The girl made everything she said sound like a question, and it was starting to get irritating. "Good. This man is a priest. we've been sleeping together since I was twenty. I'm sure you can imagine it's not easy being a mistress to a priest of religion. we don't get to spend as much time together as we'd like to. In fact, I haven't laid my eyes on him in five weeks. Admittedly, that's because I was sleeping with someone else most of the time, but that doesn't matter, really. My priest here is possibly the most handsome man in thw world, he's also kinky, well hung and you've just interrupted what I've been waiting all day for. what could be more important?" "Your dress is here. We hung it in your room. You told me to tell you as soon as it arrived no matter what you were doing. also, these arrived for you today. They were mistakenly put away with the wedding flowers." The girl said, passing the flowers to Sophie. "Oh." Dophie tapped her foot on the stone floor. "How nice." "Sophie..." James managed to make her name sound like a threat. "And I'm sorry about the, you know, well hung priest rant there," Sophie said. "Wedding jitters." "It's OK ma'am," the girl said. "If he was kissing me, I'd be pissed if I was interrupted too. Catholic priest?" "No comment," James said. The girl bobbed a stiff curtsy and sauntered off. "Is it strange I want to f**k her now?" Sophie asked watching her walk away. "Castles make me horny." "Little one?" "Yes sir?" She turned back to face him. "Who are your flowers from?" "I have no idea," She said . She carefully looked through the bouquet of white roses and pink hydrangeas, until she found the small ivory card. She opened it up to read it aloud, "Dear Mistress, I apologise I must miss your wedding tomorrow but I never attend a wedding where I am not aloud to kiss the bride. Think of me on your wedding night. Love - your Sam" "How very kind of him," James said, smiling. "He's got a smart mouth, just like his father." Sophie said. She tucked the card into the envelope. "Where were we?" "Here, I am am to belive," James said as he pulled his arms around her waist and guided her to him. He dropped gentle but hungry kisses along the crook of her neck. "Oh, that's whwre we were." "It been so long since I've had the pleasure of beating you and putting you in your place." He whispered into her ear, and she shivered in response. "Do you even remember your place?" "Underneath you, my sir," She said. "Or where you tell me it is." "Very good answer." He tapped a finger under her chin and she smiled. She loved to please him. Collaring Sam nearly two years ago and making him hers had been the best thing she could have done for her relationship with James. When she and Sam had become lovers, she had been existing on pure instinct, grief and need. She had been searching for something she was missing, and she found it in Sam. Once she had a submissive of her own, her own property collared and owned, she could fully grasp James' love for her. Having ownership of Sam filled up void not even James could. For the past two years she had only two lovers, James and Sam, and she had not wanted or needed anyone else in her bed or her heart. This might just be the closest she would come to monogamy. Robert was already taking bets on how long it would last.
