Surprise Mate

"I've got an appointment set up with uh, Zaire Apparel today." I said, referencing my planner to remember the name of the business.

"For what?" My beta, Arik, asked me.

"I'm going to stop those leeches from hurting our pack when they're out training. I've got the perfect idea! Just some of those Underarmour shirts with real gold sewn into the neck area. That way if they try to attack while we're in human form, they'll instantly get burned by the gold and we'll have time to retaliate!" I explained all in a rush of excitement for my brilliance. I flashed him a huge grin to show just how excited I was.

Arik rubbed his stubbled chin, considering my plan. "I mean it can't hurt to try," he shrugged.

"Precisely. I'm getting 400 for all our warriors that are coming into training and the instructors. If it works out. we'll get 1100 more made for the rest of the warriors. Can you take care of things while I'm gone?" I asked him as I started grabbing my cell phone, jacket and keys.

"Well, you know things usually end up on fire when you leave but I think we'll survive!" Arik joked as he opened my office door and we walked out together.

"Well try not to burn down the pack house, the insurance company was NOT happy the last time we filed a claim for that massive hole you made in the wall last year." I pointed at him accusingly.

He held up his hands in surrender, "Hey, blame Chris! He's the one that decided we should have a wrestling match. He knows I never lose," he said with a shake of his head.

"Uh huh, well try to keep it in one piece. Got it?" I smiled at him as I walked out the front door to my car.

I drove about 20 minutes to get to Zaire Apparel and parked in front of the entrance. As soon as I got out, the most peculiar smell hit my nose. It was like coconuts and ocean waves. I took another deep whiff and exhaled with a smile on my face as I walked in the front door.

I saw a few different employees working on sewing machines, laptops, mechanical equipment, etc. I went up to the first girl I saw, she had a pretty face with her light brown hair in a ponytail.

"Excuse me, where can I find Mrs. Ainsley's office?" I asked her.

She smiled widely at me and said "her office is right over there" she pointed towards a door to a little built-in office area in the corner of the warehouse. I gave her a smile and said, "thanks!"

As I walked towards her office, that amazing smell got even stronger, she must have like 40 of those Glade plug-ins or something for such a strong scent!

Her door was open but she was on the computer and didn't seem to notice me standing there so I knocked lightly on her door. She spun around and the second our eyes locked, I felt it. My wolf, Shade, was jumping and yelling, "Mate! Mate! Mate! She's here! We found her!" with so much excitement.

I took in every detail I could about her: her gorgeous dark hair pinned up in one of those sexy, messy buns. She had these incredibly beautiful brown eyes framed with thick, long eyelashes. Beautifully tanned skin with pouty lips that made my mouth water, begging to make contact with them. She was wearing a T-shirt but I could tell she had a great body just from how good she looked in a simple T-shirt.

"Mate." Was all I could say.

"Uhhh, are you British? Because if so, that's pretty cool!"

"Um, no I'm not British...sorry I didn't mean to say that. Uh, I'm Everett." I reached for her hand, the idea of just touching her was making me so excited. As soon as our hands touched, I felt pleasurable tingles all over. I couldn't let her go, I've never felt anything this incredible before.

"Oh, my name is Rowan! It's nice to hold you-I mean meet you!" She said, clearly flustered.

I laughed and said, "It's nice to hold you too," and then she sadly pulled her hand from mine, leaving me with a sense of longing.

"Umm, so I see here you want some underarmour with real gold lining?" Oh right, I was here for a reason, I had totally forgotten after seeing this beauty.

I finally sat down and leaned forward on her desk and we talked about everything I would need from the shirts that I made an inquiry for. I just watched her beautiful mouth move as she talked and I ached to kiss them. She was so cute, the way she moved her hands when she was explaining things.

My eyes took in everything about her including...a wedding ring?? MRS. Ainsley! My mate was married?! Why would the Moon Goddess allow my mate to be married to someone else? I silently seethed thinking of someone else having her, getting into bed with her every night. I would win her, she will be mine, I decided.

"What's the best way to get a hold of you?" she asked me.

"How about I just come back first thing tomorrow and we can go over it together?" I would spend as much time as I could with her and get her to see that she should be with me instead!

"Uh that's totally up to you, but I can also call you if that's easier for you."

"No no, it's quite alright. I'll just stop by here say around 10?" The earlier, the better!

"O-Okay,"

We both stood up, and she said "I'll see you out," She walked with me to the front entrance and held the door open for me. I held out my hand to her, eager to feel those sparks again.

She put her hand in mine and smiled so I brought her hand up to my mouth and kissed it gently, sending the most pleasurable sparks through my body. I let her hand go begrudgingly and made my way to my SUV. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I felt part my soul being left behind with her. I hated having to leave without her.

I couldn't help but want to see her more. I pulled off the highway and looped back around towards the shop, parking where I couldn't be seen but had full view of the parking lot. I watched as Rowan walked towards her light blue SUV. She was so beautiful, just the way she walked was enough to make my heart twinge in longing.

She started up her car and started driving. Today seems like a good day to go a-stalkin'! I followed behind her, far enough to not be noticed. She drove for about 15 minutes before stopping at a day care. All the color drained from my face and my heart was pounding.

Did my mate have a child? How could the Moon Goddess let someone else have a child with MY mate?! I was once again seething.

How could she do this to me?
