Ace’s alarm chimed softly at 4:15 a.m., the familiar tone threading through the quiet of the Alpha suite. She silenced it with a practiced swipe and eased herself out of the warmth of the bed. A heavy arm tightened instinctively at her waist. “Why,” Kai’s groggy voice rumbled against her back, “do you insist on getting up so early every morning?” Ace smiled despite herself. “Because someone has to keep your pack from falling apart while you sleep in,” she murmured, prying his arm loose inch by inch.
