Ace sat perched on the exam table, swinging her feet lightly while Kai leaned against the counter beside her, arms crossed, pretending to be patient. The small room smelled faintly of antiseptic and lavender, an odd but soothing mix. They were waiting for the nurse, but Ace’s mind was already wandering. “I think we should ask your brother if he’d consider becoming Beta,” she mused aloud, glancing at Kai. “I know he’s an Alpha, but maybe he’d consider it.
