Chapter Forty Five
Ace braced her hands on her lower back and breathed. At seven months pregnant, her belly was finally unmistakable round, heavy, and stretching her shirts so that she had to borrow from Kai’s closet. She hated slowing down. She especially hated how every morning now, she woke a little stiffer, a little more tired, a little more aware that her body was not entirely her own anymore. Which made her current walk up the stairs to the Beta office feel like a small mountain trek.
