Chapter 3

819 Words
Cora's POV Cora and Mia were walking out of the third period when the intercom told them to report to the auditorium for an unexpected assembly. As they walked in, they found Alex and sat with him. About halfway through the crowned prince talking, Cora gets this weird feeling and decides to go to the bathroom. " Hey, I'll be back; I don't feel good." Mia gives her a thumbs up while starting at the crowned prince's brother. Cora sneaks out the back door of the auditorium and heads for the closest bathroom. She walks in and goes to the sink to wash her face; when in walks Ally and two other girls, she does not know the names of the other girls. "What can I do to help the three musketeers," Cora asks in a cold tone. "That is no way to treat your future Luna, beta or not." "What do you mean, future Luna. Last time I checked, neither you nor Alex were of age. I also highly doubt the Moon Goddess would make someone like you, Luna." "What is that supposed to mean, Cora?" Ally sneered in disgust. "Well, it means someone who doesn't care for anyone but herself," Cora returns. Right about that time, Ally punches Cora in the nose, making it bleed, while her friends start hitting Cora until she is on the floor. They then begin kicking Cora until she is crying from the pain. They had just started laughing and didn't hear the bathroom door hit the floor. They realized that someone was there when they heard them say something. They were shocked and ran from the bathroom as well as the crowned prince. Mia came in next and looked at Leo, who had golden eyes instead of his usual blue. Then she rushed over to Cora's side. " Why is my mate on the ground crying," Cora heard, as the most fantastic smell of s'mores and trees at Christmas flooded her senses. "Mate is here," Lily told Cora through their mind link. Cora had this feeling of peace wash over her as she looked through tears and saw her mate. "Cora? Are you okay, sweety?" Mia asks her, trying her hardest to get a response from Cora to calm Prince Leo. Cora looked at Mia for a second, then back at Leo, and realized Mia had asked her something. "What did you say, Mia?" "I asked if you are okay. The Crowned Prince is scaring me because his lycan says he won't go until you say you're okay." Cora looks at Leo and says, "Other than a broken nose and rib, I am okay. I promise." Cora and Mia sit there and watch Leo's eyes change from gold to baby blue as two more people enter the bathroom door. "Mia! Cora! Thank Goddess, you are both okay," Alex says as he wraps the girls in a hug, which earns a growl from both Leo and Aiden. Alex backs up with his hands up while Cora quickly tries to diffuse the situation. "Prince Leo, this is my cousin Alex. He is next in line for the Alpha," Cora pauses, looking at Aiden, "He has also been mine and Mia's best friend since we were five years old." Leo relaxes while Aiden is still on guard. "Go wrap your arms around Prince Aiden, and tell him it's okay," Cora's mind links with Mia. Mia looks at Cora as if she has lost her mind, but does it anyway. She gets up and wearily walks towards Prince Aiden. As she approaches him, she hesitantly puts her arms around his waist and says, "It's okay." She feels him wrap his arms around her and bury his face in the crook of her neck."I thought that was the case. Her 18th birthday is tomorrow," Cora informs them as Leo and Alex help her to stand. Mia pulls away from Aiden too soon for his liking. "What does my birthday have to do with anything?" Mia asks. "Well, if I'm right, Prince Aiden is your mate, which means he will be able to claim you tomorrow, on your birthday," Cora answers clutching onto Leo while holding her in his arms. "Think of it this way, if she's right, you will both be moving to the castle if you accept your mates," Alex told her. Mia had a confused look on her face until it hit her; Leo had called Cora his mate. "Wait, does this mean Cora will become Queen and I will be a princess?" "Eventually, yes, I believe one of us needs medical attention. Love, why don't you drive Alex and me to the packhouse, and Cora can ride with Leo while they follow behind us," Aiden says to Mia. "Okay, I guess we can do that." She answers. With that taken care of, they all piled into cars and set off for the packhouse.
