What's that sound?
Beep... beep... beep...
What's That sound?
Beep... beep... beep...
Where am I?
Beep... beep... beep...
Why does everything hurt?
Beep... beep... beep...
I can't remember anything from last night. Just pain. I can hear and feel everything, but I can't open my eyes. I'm attempting to force them open, I try to scream, to move... anything, but nothing is happening!
"Malorie, if you can hear me, everything is going to be ok Darling... I promise." says the unknown voice.
Darling? Who is calling me Darling? I don't have any parents or siblings, no friends. I don't even have a boyfriend. I've always been alone, left to fend for my life in this messed up world we live in. Even back to my earliest memories with my foster family. They never cared.
Damn it, why can't I wake up?! Panic starts to overtake me. I start to sweat. My heart rate starts to accelerate. I still can't move, Why can't I move?! I need to wake up, I need to get out of here! I hear the beeping start to get faster and faster until:
Beeeeeeeeep...
White. Everything here is white. Where am I? I'm floating in, what is this? A room? There's nothing below me, nothing around or above me. It's all just... white... I'm floating. It's peaceful here. Did I die?
"Hello child." The man in front of me says. He has long brown hair, about shoulder length, dark eyes and tan skin. Hes wearing a white robe and tan sandles. He has a brown beard covering most of his face. His eyes are gentle, I can tell he means me no harm.
"Are you god, is this heaven?" I ask?
The man smiles gently. "Come here my child, let's talk."
He pats the bench that he is now sitting on. Was that always there?
I walk over and sit on the bench with him. We sit in silence for a few minutes before the man turns to me to speak. "Malorie, life for you has been difficult, but you have to understand that everything you went through has led up to now, the biggest fight of your life. When you are through, my child, your life will be extraordinary, but you must promise me to never give up. Things will be confusing at first, but you have to fight."
He pauses as if giving me a chance to speak. I just look at him, taking in the information I was just given. Soon he continues to speak. "Malorie you have been given a gift, a great power, and in order to unlock it you must go through these trials. I know this isn't the life you would have pictures for yourself, but please try to understand, you will never be given more than you can handle in life. "
I stare down at my feet, pondering what to say.
"Will it hurt?" I ask
"Yes." He replies
"Do I have a choice?" I say.
"Oh Malorie of course you have a choice! You can choose to stay here, or you can choose to fight for your life! If you stay here, your life is over, but if you choose to go, you can have the life you have always wanted." He says. The man lifts his hand and as he waves it a sort of movie screen appears. In front of us is an image of my body. I'm lying on a dirty mattress, hooked up to some sort of IV. There's a man doing chest compressions. He's swearing. Yelling at me to come back. He seems worried. I've never seen him before. Who is he?
"I want to go back." I say. I have too many things I want - no I NEED to do before the end. Prove to everyone they were wrong, and I am someone. I need to find out where I am, and who this man is. I have so many questions I need the answers too. I just can't accept that this is my fate.
The man pulls out a vial and is now filling up a syringe. I watch him carefully, trying to understand what he's doing.
I turn to the man beside me, fear written all over my face.
"Malorie, now is your time my child. Fight, Fight for your life, and remember DO NOT let him inject with anything else. From this point forward, all you need to do is escape. Promise me, child, promise me you will not let this man keep doing these things to you!"
"I promise!" I yell, just as the man stabs me in the heart with liquid adrenalin, and I'm back in my body. I wake up, gasping for air my body so desperately craved. I'm now face to face with the man who brought me back. My captor. I need to come up with a plan, but for now, I'll follow his instructions. I have to be smart about this and be cautious. I can't make any rash decisions or else, who knows what will happen to me. All I know is I have to escape.
As the man checks my vitals, I sit there in silence. Carefully watching him, observing his movements. I am weak right now, so this will be a process. Maybe I can try and get a weapon. I subtly look around the room to see if I can see any camers. I spot one in the far corner of the room but try not to make it obvious that I know it's there. That makes things slightly harder, but as long as im smart about it, he shouldn't suspect a thig, and I'm counting on that for my survival.
"Follow the light with your eyes, Malorie." The man says with a serious look on his face. I do as he says.
"Your vitals look good, but you need to rest. damn it, Malorie you could have ruined everything! Never do that again, do you understand me?!" He says in an angry tone.
As if I have any choice in the matter, I think to myself. I only nod is response, and he seems satisfied with my answer. He turns to leave but I can't let him yet. I need more information.
"WAIT!" I yell.
He turn's and looks at me.
