They didn"t go back down by way of the chute. For that, at least, Fitz was grateful. His whole body was still sore from the last time. But Wyss"s drones had not yet found a better route than the long, steep climb through the narrow chasm. Fitz felt a great reluctance to push his legs into that s***h of darkness by the floor of the cave, almost hidden under overhanging rock formations. Then he had to crawl backwards, the rock catching at the back of his tunic as he moved. Wyss had it easier, being barely tall or heavy enough to pass the cadet physical requirements. Hansen with his wide shoulders and thick chest should"ve had a tougher time than Fitz, but he slipped through as if he did this daily. Which, for all Fitz knew, he might. He was just glad that Ritchie wasn"t there with them.
