THE DINER

(KARI'S POV)

We drove for about 20 minutes when we finally pulled up to this little diner at the edge of our borders.

"My grandparents opened this place after my parents took over as the Alpha and Luna."

"Wow, that is amazing. But why so close to the border? Why not closer to the pack?"

"Well, my grandmother wanted it here so she could feed any rogues that have been kicked out of their packs, been rejected and ran away, or were abused. Then they offer for them to join our pack. Most take them up on their offer but there are a few who still won't."

"That is amazing!!! What if we were to add a small motel that way moms with pups can stop for a few nights and feel safe too?"

"That is a wonderful idea, Kari. When we get back to the pack house we will talk with dad and start planning immediately."

I can feel myself starting to blush and feel shy. The waitress finally came over and took our orders. As we sat there waiting for our food we took turns asking each other questions.

"Okay, Kari my turn. how have you been feeling? Anybody aches or pressure in your head?"

"Yeah, I have actually for the past week and a half but it seems to be getting worse. I was going to talk to my mom about it tonight. Do you know what it could mean?"

"It means your wolf is trying to get through so she can meet you. You might be shifting early. I want you to stay home from school until after your shift."

"But I cant miss school. My attendance will get messed up."

"Don't worry I will talk to mom and I will have Cole bring all of your homework and classwork. Plus you and I both know your dad and Lycan will say the same thing."

"Has this ever happened before? What do I do Quinn?"

"Easy Kari everything will be fine. You won't be alone and no this is not the first time this has happened."

(QUINN'S POV)

I didn't mean to scare her but I don't want to lie to her. I already feel bad that I've known she was my mate for the last 4 years and not telling her.

"Quinn I can sense Kari's wolf getting stronger. She feels really powerful. We need to talk to her parents but not around her we don't want to scare her any more than we already have."

"Your right Blay we will as soon as we get back."

"Quinn?"

"Yes, Kari?"

"After we eat lunch do you think we can go back to the pack house? I have a lot to think about and I'm getting a really bad headache."

"Of course. If you would like we can get our food to go."

"Thank you Quinn I would like that. I'm sorry for cutting our lunch short this is just a lot to take in and I'm hurting."

"It's no problem sweetheart. I will be right back I'm going to go tell grandpa to make it to go."

"Okay, and thank you Quinn for understanding."

I get up and head to the kitchen, "Blay I need you to contact dad and tell him what is going on. ill get our lunch."

"Okay."

(BLAY 'S POV)

"Dad can you and mom meet Quinn in your office and have the Beta there to its about Kari."

"Okay, son but you're going to have to give me more than that. We are talking about Asher's little girl here and I don't know about you but I would like to live and see my grandkids."

"I know. I'm starting to sense her wolf and she is powerful. Kari is starting to feel the pains of the shift. we are at the doner as soon as grandpa brings our food out Quinn will bring her home. Just don't tell them until we are almost there. We don't need Lycan taking control."

"Okay, son. I will let them know."

"Quinn I have told dad."

"Thanks, Blay I'm getting the food now."

(QUINN'S POV)

I make my way to the kitchen to ask grandpa if he could make our food go.

"Hi, grandpa."

"Hello, Quinn what can I do for you?"

"Can I get our food to go? Kari's shift is starting and I need to get her home to let her family know."

"You got it. Give me 5 minutes and I will bring it to you."

"Thank you, grandpa."

I head back to Kari and link Lucian,

"Lucian meet me in my dad's office in about an hour with your parents it's about Kari just don't tell them anything till I get her home please?"

"Yes, sir we will be there it's about her shift isn't it?"

"Yeah, it will be happening tonight."

When I get to our table I can see grandpa had already brought out the food,

"Hey, Kari you ready to go? When we get back I recommend a nap."

"Okay, that sounds lovely."

I grab our food and we head to the car and then to the pack house. When we get to the house I let my dad and Lucian know. We pull up to the front door and I help Kari inside and up to her room. Once I made sure my mate was taken care of I head to dads office.
