"Dont cry Balin, im here not dead." I told him carefully whiping his tears away from underneath his eyes. "Im just glad youre feeling better." He said with a smile. "Yeah you and me both." I said. Just behind Balin I saw Dwalin who I had the deepest respect knowing that underneath all the muscles he had a heart for his kin and specially his brother Balin. "Dwalin." I greeted him, dwalin looked at me with a stern look and his arms crossed infront of his chest not saying a word so I walked pass him. "Nessa." Dwalin said, i turned around to face him. "Im glad your still with us." He added. "Thank you Dwalin." I said with a slight nod before I walked three steps up to meet Thorin who was waiting for me. After Dinner Elrond looked at the swords we found telling me that this sword was named: Oathkeeper while Thorins Sword was called: Orcrist. "Thats a great name" I said when I heard the name for the first time. "Where did you found them?" Elrond asked after looking at Glamdring, Gandalfs Sword. "In a cave near the great east road just before we were ambushed by orcs." Gandalf replied. "And what were you doing there?" Elrond continued but no one replied. “Our business is no concern of elves.” Thorin said while we stood in a hallway after the others had left. “For goodness sake, Thorin, show him the map.” Gandalf said angry over his stuborness. “It is the legacy of my people, it is mine to protect, as are its secrets.” Thorin said with the map he recieved from Gandalf in the shire at our first meeting. “Save me from the stubbornness of Dwarves. Your pride will be your downfall. You stand here in the presence of one of the few in Middleearth who can read that map. Show it to Lord Elrond.” Gandalf said devastated since his plan wasnt working. Thorin thought it through roughly before he passed it to Elrond but Balin stopped him. “Thorin, no!” he snapped but Thorin brushed him away passing the map to Elrond, he looked at the map slowly turning away from us. “Erebor. What is your interest in this map?” he asked toward Thorin, but before he could speak Gandalf interupted him. “It’s mainly academic. As you know, this sort of artifact sometimes contains hidden text. You still read Ancient Dwarvish, do you not?” Gandalf asked hoping that he could read it. “Cirth Ithil.” Elrond mumbled as he held the map up, the moon was shining through a window onto the map. “Moon runes. Of course. An easy thing to miss.” Gandalf said. I was listening to the conversation in the background, standing still next to Bilbo. “Well in this case, that is true; moon runes can only be read by the light of a moon of the same shape and season as the day on which they were written.” Elrond explained. “Can you read them?” Thorin asked. The moon was up and Thorin, Gandalf, Bilbo, Dwalin, Balin and I followed Elrond a lot of stairs to a plattform behind a waterfall. "These runes were written on a Midsummer's Eve by the light of a crescent moon nearly two hundred years ago. It would seem you were meant to come to Rivendell. Fate is with you, Thorin Oakenshield; the same moon shines upon us tonight." Elrond said as we rached the table wehre the moon shone uppon on. As we looked at the beautiful sky which had clouds covering the moon it happend to be a slight wind bloating the clouds away for us to have the light of the moon shining down on to us. "Stand by the gray stone when the thrush knocks, and the setting sun with the last light of Durin's Day will shine upon the keyhole." Elrond read from the map where elvish runes showed up, while I looked up into the sky freezing a little bit and regretting it not having my cloak with me. "Are you cold? Here take my coat." Thorin whispered placing his coat on my shoulders. "But you will freeze." I told him about to shake the coat off but Thorin shook his head. "Keep it Ness, youll need it more than me." He said giving me another nickname also making me smile. "Durin's Day?" Bilbo asked behind me. "It is the start of the dwarves' new year, when the last moon of autumn and the first sun of winter appear in the sky together." Gandalf explaned. "This is ill news. Summer is passing. Durin's Day will soon be upon us." He said returning to the conversation. "We still have time." Balin said, I turned around while I slipped my thin arms through the sleeves of Thorins Jacket. "Time? For what?" Bilbo asked. "To find the entrance. We have to be standing at exactly the right spot at exactly the right time. Then, and only then, can the door be opened." Balin replied. "And to reach the mountain, I mean we still have a lot of way uppon us hearding through the misty mountains." I said thinking about what happend the last time when I crossed the mountains I had a encounter with some nasty goblins. "So this is your purpose, to enter the Mountain." Elrond said. "What of it?" Thorin asked which kinda concerns me. Thorin told me about his concerns to ask for help here. "There are some who would not deem it wise." Elrond replied passing him the map back which he took with a grufflying. "Who do you mean?" Gandalf asked confused what Elrond ment.
