I hated the way her voice slightly trembled with fear. But there was also an arrogant, smug part of me that realized, if she was this scared for my life, it meant she felt some kind of way about me.

“Yes,” I replied, watching as the color drained from her face. I didn’t know what to do with this, but I’d read enough romance novels to have a slight idea…
“It’ll be alright,” I reassured her, reaching out and, despite her struggles, I pulled her into my arms and held her close. “I promise! I won’t be killed that easily.”
“Oh! And you’ll tell your enemies that too?” She snapped--- making me chuckle.
