I gaped at the man next to me, unable to comprehend what he was saying. But his words echoed in my mind over and over again. Hollow and deafening all at once...
Did he honestly just casually drop that a war was coming?!
My whole body shook, a mixture of fear and helplessness that threatened to suck me under. I wrapped my arms around myself, as if that could shield me from the reality sinking in.
