Selena’s POV
“Are you quoting this from somewhere?” I asked, just to give myself a break from everything. My whole body tingled from his closeness, and his words made me warm. Even the baby in my belly seemed to calm at the mere presence of his father.
“I read a little Tears of the Wolf when getting here,” Rain confessed with the same ease he confessed everything else. But as if then realizing that I might misunderstand, he quickly added: “But I mean it!”
Yeah…
I know!
But I couldn’t give in...
“I’m sorry, but I can’t trust you, Rain,” I sighed, hating how my whole body hurt from rejecting him. “You have to know that bringing me back to the castle will only result in chaos. Your mate will never---”
“She’s not my mate,” he cut me off, clearly annoyed that I kept bringing it up.
