Chapter 7 I woke up to the sound of loud voices. “I held up my end of the bargain. Now give me my brother’s body.” It sounded like Sebastian, but when I tried to open my eyes to check, I felt an explosion of pain and I closed them again. “You promised me.” I tried one more time, this time forcing my eyes open against the pain, and after a moment it subsided enough that I could take in my surroundings. I was bound to a solid-looking chair with thick wooden arms and legs. The room I was in was large and sparsely furnished. It wasn’t breathtaking like Caspian’s library had been with the towering shelves and tall windows, but there were books here as well. Old books, some with spines that looked as if they were flaking away. There was a smell here too. A sour, acrid smell that I couldn’t
