The shift

Today I woke up strangely happy. the Alpha gave me the day off for my birthday and I could finally shift! My wolf's name is Cassie she's a silver gray wolf with black paws and ears. she's a talker which I don't mind since I have no one else to talk to anyways.

I had decided to take a walk and to test out my wolf form, the pain was blinding but when I opened my eyes I was on paws! I yipped happily my tail wagging my first few steps were wobbly but I got the hang of it. Now I could get out of this hellhole! I didn't own much worth keeping so I just put the necklace that my mother had given me the day before she died Which had been my grandmother's around my neck before I shifted.

it was a good thing the chain was long enough so it didn't break when I shifted. I took one final look at what had been my home for the last sixteen years. nobody would miss me I knew that but it was still the place where I'd grown up so a small part of me would always be here. I then uttered the one sentence id waited years to say "I avery Jane hill cut all ties with the red blood pack and am henceforth a rogue." I then turned and ran. Ran like my life depended on it well it kinda did.. and ran to what was either my heaven or another kind of hell.

At first I had no idea where I was going or where I was it's been hours since I left, it was getting dark and even with my fur I was cold. oh well it could be worse I thought to myself. I decided to lay down for the night as I was exhausted from running all day long. no sooner did I drift off to sleep was I awakened by the sound of leaves rusting and paws on dirt. three sets to be exact. s**t! I was in trouble. I tried to run, I really did but with being a new wolf I wasn't very fast, I kept going anyway. Suddenly though I was tackled to the ground with a large black wolf snarling at me.

Cassie could utter but one word when she looked to his face "Mate."

Oh no what have you gotten yourself into Avery? I thought to myself. The wolf above me froze as realization dawned. I was his and he was mine. my soulmate. God he's probably just going to reject me what am I thinking calling him mine. my wolf whimpered at the thought of losing our mate but didn't say anything, she knew it was true. when I looked back into the wolves eyes there were so many emotions that I couldn't possibly name them all. joy, happiness, protectiveness,pride and something I couldn't describe... was it love? no it couldn't be.

The next thing I knew the wolf was off of me and shifted to human form. I couldn't help but stare he was heartbreakingly handsome with short dark hair and eyes, lean muscle, and killing good looks. could something this perfect even exist? it shouldn't. he turned to me growling the one word I never expected to hear from him, "Mine!", he said looking at me. I felt joy hearing him say it but felt I was just putting myself up for heartbreak later. "Shift." I heard him say not a question but a demand. And that's when I realized who he was.

Alpha Caleb woods, the strongest alpha ever to exist with the strongest pack, the night stalkers. they were known for being ferocious and made my old pack look like wimpy teenagers. I did what he asked and shifted back pulling on my clothes as I did so. "what's your name?" he asked. "Avery." I replied looking down. "Avery." he said testing the sound of it out. he smiled at me causing me to be rather taken aback. but I still smiled back or attempted to at least. he looked at me funny, so I guess it looked as bad as it felt. " are you okay my Luna?" he asked. I was confused he was calling me his Luna, wasn't he going to reject me? I just nodded, he didn't seem convinced but didn't question it further which I appreciated.

A few hours later I found myself at his pack house Caleb had insisted I come back with him and I didn't argue not that it'd make a difference if I did, what with the growling he did when I tried to back away. He had important things to attend to though so a girl my age named Maya was showing me around. we've already seen the living room, kitchen (which was huge like the rest of the house.), the guest rooms, the game room, and at last mine and Caleb's room. yeah he expects me to share a room with him. which I guess would make sense since we are mates but I don't expect him to accept me .

"this door is your personal bathroom Luna." Maya explained as she opened the door it was extravagant. the shower and bathtub alone was enough for me to love it not to mention the huge vanity and sink. Maya then showed me the walk-in closet. it was filled with clothes that smelled like Caleb, minty and woodsy. on the other side however there were a bunch of girls clothes. who's were they? how dumb I was for believing me and Caleb might actually get to be together these probably belonged to his girlfriend or something.

the thought saddened me. I guess Maya noticed my expression and followed my line of vision to the clothes, "Do you not like them? the Alpha had them bought as soon as he found out you were his mate. anything else you might need from makeup and soap to feminine products is in the bathroom." So these weren't from another girl that's a relief. I turned to Maya " No I like them they're perfect thank you." I told her.

I can't believe Caleb bought all this for me. I smiled at the thought. "your welcome. you must be tired Luna so I'll let you get some sleep." I really was tired. I liked Maya a lot I hope she'll be my friend. it'd be nice to have one after all these ears. " hey Maya." I said as she was about to walk out of the door. "yeah?" she asked "you don't have to call me Luna, just Avery is fine. I really hope we can be friends?" I asked nervously. she smiled "of course we can. I can come back tomorrow if you'd like Avery." I nodded and she smiled before leaving. I smile to myself it'd be nice to have a friend again and have someone to talk to I thought to myself as I crawled under the covers. this is the last thought I have before falling into a deep sleep.
