Maya's POV

I rush into Avery and Caleb's office not bothering to knock I was super excited to introduce them to Luca. they both look up eyes widened and Caleb growling while standing in front of Avery. !maybe that wasn't the best idea considering the very recent attack on Avery. I look down sheepishly while Luca pushes me behind him growling and standing in front of me protectively. this makes sense since we are newly mates and haven't marked each other yet. of course he's gunna be protective but to growl at an alpha especially one who's mate was just attacked is not smart.

"Maya what is the meaning of this?" Caleb asks looking pissed off. Luca growls at his tone lightly pulling me into his side but I brush him off I'm not afraid of Caleb he'd never hurt me. " I apologize alpha but you see I just wanted you to meet my mate Luca.." I trail off being respectful I'm in the presence of a very pissed alpha usually we don't use titles but right now it's better to since he's already pissed off.

He still looks mad but less so now that I've explained. "I see. so your the one who helped attack my mate?" he says angrily. Avery pops up next to him whacking him on the head. "ouch da!n it woman what was that for? you should be sitting." he says both sheepish and worried. "I'm fine and you deserve it for being rude to my best friends mate now cool it." she says evenly. usually this would be considered very unprofessional as alphas and Luna's never admit weakness and always present a united front in others presence but its just us and Avery has never been a formal person.

"Luna I must apologize for my actions. you must understand that I had no idea what was going to happen my alpha said we were here for a meeting I had no idea about the attack. and then I found my mate id never assist in attacking a Luna." Luca replies formally. "nonsense call me Avery and as long as Maya has forgiven you I see no reason to be mad. as for my mate I must apologize for him he's in a foul mood I'm fine really." leave it to Avery to downplay everything.

Luca nods "it's quite alright miss Avery id have done the same if it were my mate." he replied pulling me close. I blushed furiously at this. she smiled and as if she couldn't contain it anymore she hurries as quickly as she can with her bad leg to hug the both of us. "oh I'm so happy she's found you!! I could tell she wanted a mate and now she has you! also just Avery is fine none of this 'miss' stuff." she says eagerly. I can tell she's excited.

Luca looked startled but nodded and oh so carefully hugged her as well. Caleb didn't look happy but didn't comment just pulled a chair over for her to sit on."avery luca came to check on me as well as you after the fight to make sure we were alright and severed ties with his pack. he heard your offer and would like to join our pack?" I asked. she smiled and nodded happily.

"of course he can join the pack right dear?" she asked batting her eyes at a very unhappy Caleb he grunts which she takes as confirmation enough. " there see you may move in with Maya of course and starting tomorrow you shall be our official guard. after all grouchy over there is always worried about our safety and says we should be guarded at all times." she says rolling her eyes at her mate. I'm so happy at this that I could practically jump up and down. I can also tell Luca is thrilled with this and is going to take his job very seriously.

"yes of course...Avery." he says stumbling over the words trying to avoid calling her Luna after her insisting. "I'd love to be given the job of guarding the Luna and my mate. I'll protect you both with my life." he insists dutifully. she smiled and nods he's like a puppy with his excitement. you could see how happy he was to have purpose in the pack and I was happy for him as well.

"thank you so much for everything alpha and Avery I'm going show Luca to our room now and get him settled in." I told them bowing with the smile. Luca followed my lead thanking them for allowing him to join the pack and entrusting him with such an important job. With that taken care of I lead Luca down the hall. it'd actually gone way better than id originally thought it would.

Lucas POV

I was shocked to say the least. they actually are allowing me to join the pack? and not only that but they are entrusting me to watch over the Luna?! Avery had been more than kind since the moment she heard I was Mayas mate. I've never seen an alpha and Luna quite like them. they aren't afraid to banter or face off with each other if the feel strongly about something. you can tell they love each other. much different than the old alpha and Luna back at our old pack. they were less formal. I liked it

maya was leading me up stairs and down a series of halls to her floor which was the same floor as the alphas and Luna's we had a suit at the very end after the Luna and Maya became friends she insisted that she moved up here with them and that Caleb give her a room here. this was good I could do my guarding job so much better if I was near the Luna. I wasn't going to give Caleb a reason to toss me out of the pack which I doubt Avery would allow but still. it was far enough away they could have their privacy and me and my mate would have ours but close enough I could spring into action if necessary.

I smiled as I was lead into our room it was huge smaller than an alphas but bigger than another pack members. I looked to see Maya watching me as I took in our surroundings nervous if id like it. I smiled down at her lovingly "I love it little love it amazing like you." I watched as she blushed and felt pride I could make her do so. instead of responding to me she pulled me over to the bed and sat down while I followed suit and sat beside her pulling her into my lap. we just sat not saying anything just enjoying each other's company she didn't seem to mind this and instead cuddled closer.

I could get used to this my mate snuggled into me just relaxing. I was enjoying the heat she gave off until I felt her breathing even out and knew she'd fallen asleep. I sighed while laying back and pulling the blanket over us trying my best to not wake her. she didn't seem to even feel me move as she remained asleep. I wrapped my arms around her relaxing into her myself and falling asleep soon after.

Avery's POV

Caleb gave me a stern look after the two had left and I gulped I hated when he did this it means I am in big trouble. he stalked over to me as I cowered back in my chair a hesitant smile on my face. I wasn't afraid of him I just always hated arguing and when he'd raise his voice. "you disrespected me in front of one of the people who hurt you I'm not happy about that." he told me.

"technically Caleb we are equals so I can't disrespect you, you aren't MY alpha. also you heard Maya he left his pack and he had no idea that Jason was going to hurt me." I said scrambling for some leverage. "oh but I'm not finished yet. you also whacked me on the head, you got out of your chair when you aren't supposed to be on your feet more than necessary and to top it off you were practically running over there which your not allowed to do AT ALL." he said putting emphasis on 'at all'.

I just looked at him with my best puppy dog eyes. he sighs not able to stay mad when I do that. "you know I hate those puppy dog eyes of yours. fine but no more running you need to relax and stay off your foot your gunna hurt yourself worse." now that he'd brought it up my leg really did hurt a bit. he seemed to notice my. pinched expression and sighed. " the doctor gave me your medication before we left." he says giving me a bottled water from the fridge in the corner and a pill which I gratefully took.

all seemed forgiven and I was exhausted all of a sudden. I smile sleepily up at my mate wanting to curl up with him and sleep for a bit. he caught on to my expression and scooped me up heading towards our room. I snuggle into his chest as he lays us down and covers me with a blanket making sure I'm warm and kissing me on the head before we both fall asleep.
