Chapter Eight: Simply

Lilith POV “DOES HE NOT LISTEN?!” I screamed as I threw my lamp at Marcus. He dodged it at the last second causing it to shatter against the wall behind him, spraying glass everywhere. He raised his hands in defeat and walked to me slowly. “Lilith, please, I have no say, I have to follow Alpha's orders!” He pleaded with me. “Bullshit! It should be up to me what my guard does and doesn’t do! And I say no torture!” I screamed at him again. In my fit of unchecked rage, I knocked over my small desk, sending papers flying about the room. “Please relax! I’ll do anything just please stop. Lilly-pad, baby, I don’t want you to hurt yourself…anymore.” He said calmly. My heart skipped a beat when he used that pet name for me, forcing me to take a step back and breath. I looked down at my hands and noticed the left was bleeding from a cut on my palm. I cut myself when I angrily shattered the cup I was holding when I saw Marcus’s bloody knuckles again. “That’s it, princess, breath and come back to me.” Marcus said, and only then did I notice he was right in front of me. He took my hand in his and looked over the cut before his eyes clouded over. As he was engaged I finally took in my surroundings. Nearly everything I owned was trashed, not that I owned much. My entire mattress was flipped off my bed frame and partially shredded, dresser knocked over missing it’s drawers, with cracks all over it. My mirror was shattered and glass laid across my floor. My own blood splattered on it all. I had never experienced that type of rage, and for a moment I was scared of myself. “Brittany will be here soon to bandage it.” He said to me. I clenched my fist and pulled away from him. “Take me to them.” I said as I looked up into his gently eyes. It was hard to be tough with him, but I wanted my way, and I was going to get it. “Hell no. Alpha will kill me, literally, if I take you there.” He said as he took a few steps back. “Please Marcus.” I begged as I advanced on him. Placing my nonbleeding hand softly against his chest. I felt a growl come from his chest and I looked up again at him. I stuck out my bottom lip, giving him the best pouty face I could muster up. After a few seconds he didn’t reply, and I decided to try something else. “As your future Luna, I command you to take me to the prisoners.” I said in an authoritative tone. A look flickered in his eyes; he was struggling internally. Finally, he gripped my hands in his again and pulled me flush to him. He put a finger under my chin, forcing me to maintain eye contact. “My wolf says we have to obey. So, I cannot say no.” He said as he let out a sigh, “5 minutes and then you’re out of there.” He finished and he quickly pulled me to the door and looked down both ways of the hallways. Once he was sure nobody as around, he whisked me down the hallway. At first, I recognized the places we were, but then we came to a part of the pack house I had never even seen before. You could feel the tension and anger in the air. We finally came to the end of another hallway where he opened the door slowly but stopped before it was all the way open. “You sure?” He asked me. I chewed my bottom lip for a moment before I nodded my head. “Yes, I need to help these people. At least make sure they aren’t bleeding to death.” I said before I pushed passed him. The smell of the dungeons was putrid. I could never imagine the things that caused those smells and I never wanted to. I froze for a moment as I tried to hold in my mornings breakfast. “You alright?” Marcus asked me. I nodded before he grabbed my elbow lightly and guided me to the cell at the end. I steadied myself as he opened the door. I flicked the light on in the small room and what I saw would horrify me for years to come. Two beautiful women chained up and covered in all kinds of torture marks. One was unconscious and she had bruises and whip marks covering her body. The other, who was blind folded, was burned head to toe and cut up, she was awake but slouched down, and her head perked up when she heard the door open. “Laches!” {Cowards!} She screamed out at me, causing me to jump back. “I am no coward.” I said in a shaky tone to her. When she heard my voice, she turned her head in my direction, if she weren’t blindfolded, she would have been looking directly at me. “Ahhh, sending a female to finish your work Alexander?!” Her voice so shrill it made my head hurt. “I’m not here to finish anything.” I said meekly to her and she let out a fake laugh. “So, what is it you want?” She asked me. Despite all she’s been through, she had a strong voice. I wanted to be like her, strong and resilient but I was made to be a dainty flower. “Je veux vous aider à sortir d'ici.” I said to her. I was thankful now more than ever that Thomas forced me into so much school, it paid off talking in secret like this. “How will you do this?” She said as she tilted her head. “I don’t know, but I know I hate my Alpha, and what he does. Peut-etre que je peux vole rune cle et te la faufiler.” I said honestly to her. “You can help by telling me what pack this is.” She said to me. I looked at Marcus who quickly shook his head. “I…I can’t tell you that. I can’t risk my pack being hurt. There are innocent people here.” I said. “YOU CALL THIS INNOCENT?!” She roared out and lunged towards us, the chains yanked her back. Marcus grabbed my arm and yanked me back behind him. “Shut your filthy trap you vile creature!” He screamed at her and moved towards her with his hand raised as if to hit her. Enough is enough, I thought to myself. I quickly reacted by taking a few steps and launching all my weight into Marcus I thought I would at least knock him off balance but what I didn’t expect was to be able to completely knock him to the ground. I landed on top of him with a thud and before he had a chance to question me, his eyes clouded over. “Brittany is looking for you.” He said suddenly as he pushed me to my feet and stood on his own. “I won’t leave until you swear to never lay a hand on them again.” I said to him as I firmly planted my feet in their spot. “I can’t. Let’s go! Alpha will kill us both.” He begged of me. I yanked my arm out of his grasp and stood still. “GOOD! I hope so, I hate it here and I know you do too!” I screamed at him. “Screw this. You’re in danger!” He yelled out as he grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. He left the room and locked the door before he took off back toward my room. He was almost seen a few times by other warriors, but he managed to sneak around. Finally, he burst through my bedroom door and gently set my down. Before any words were spoken between us, Brittany came through the door. She made small talk with me as she bandaged my hand. It was arranged for me to spend the night in another room since mine was destroyed by none other than yours truly. Marcus and I just shared evil glares to each to her from across the room, neither of us making the first move to talk. He informed me the next day that the prisoners were being released but other than that we didn’t talk about that day again. In fact, we didn’t talk at all. There was no messing around, there was no friendship anymore after that. We were simply a Luna and her guard. And I was simply in love with him.
