Chapter 8 Secret

Chapter 8 – The coming days             War was never my plan, just something I knew I would be a part of. My pack had always been full of warriors, and now those warriors were being trained as lycans. I knew the Alpha King would regret everything he is was trying to do. The path he chose wasn’t the easy one, but rather an impossible road. Leaving the main building, I headed to my little single room house that I requested since I couldn’t have my work in a pack house. I designed it myself to be a record safe house, same as my office. That made it easy to go back and forth between work and the pack land. I didn’t have much to my living room, but the couch did turn into my bed, so that I could use the room as my office. Much to my brothers’ dismay, they all have begged me to let them build an extra room, but I keep saying no. I put my travel bag on the couch, getting ready to go shopping to fill up my empty refrigerator and cabinets. The first time they would hold anything other than a few snacks for my short stay. I would also be getting a few more outfits, since I would be here longer than a week. This would be a grand mess to clean up, but I really didn’t have a choice in the matter. People have different ideas of what is best for themselves, but forget the people as a whole. It didn’t matter to me what Leroy wanted most, but rather what would be best for all of our people. While I may not be the Luna Queen in title, the role would always be mine. I had to think of everyone. With a sigh I shook my head and began working on my shopping list, I needed to get the little store down the road before it got too late. I really didn’t like having a crowd around me. And this trip would be sure to let everyone know, that the youngest Opal was home for a long time. As quickly, and sneakily as I could, I made it to the store without anyone seeing me. My shopping took less than an hour. And that was when everyone saw me. “Lady Mina?” I will never understand why people like to act like we live in a time that we don’t. I’m not a lady, I am just a Wolfkeeper. The voice belonged to the store keeper, Mrs. French. I gave me a small smile, nodding my head her way, “Mrs. French, how are you doing today?” And so begun her long story to answer that question. She would keep talking until something came along to make it so she had to stop. I would simple speak when needed. She was talking about her grandson, and his mate, how they were having their fifth child in a few months, hoping this one would be the boy. Then she was off about her husband, and how he had been working on an addition to the shop, saying that they were going to moving the clothing part upstairs, and before we knew she had kept me almost twenty minutes, “Mrs. French, I’m so sorry, but I have frozen, and lunch with my parents.” I could almost count how long it was before what I said clicked, “You are staying longer than a week?” I simply nodded, and she started to jump with so much joy, then ran off. I assume to tell people. With a quiet sigh I headed home. It would be a matter of an hour before everyone knew. Let me just say, after a month of being here, I have begun to remember why I really needed to leave. My family is great, other than mother and father not speaking. I am just thankful they are still together. Father hasn’t forgiven Mother for not telling him about her blood line. Paul and Penny have given me another nephew after they gave me my second niece. Watching them all run around playing with Joe’s 2 boys and daughter. But I am a lone, and I will be far the seeable future. POV Unknown After watching her for a month, I question why the Alpha King didn’t want her. She plays with the children, all of them, not only her nieces and nephews. Helps out her elderly as needed or wanted. Joins the pack for training and guard work. Even meets with the rogues. I’ve even see her help her eldest brother with the pack. From what I have seen, it’s like she knows her place in the world is to help, and make it better. It also looks like she really is the strongest among the wolves. She is a gift from the moon goddess herself. And that is what makes her a danger to my people. Maybe even all the supernatural people. Not because she is an evil person, but rather because she will go the extra miles to do what is right. Even if that mean killing someone. The last month of watching was mostly just to get research on her over with, seeing if we can find a weakness, and while her family and pack are a great point, I don’t believe that she would give up everything for them. Nor would they let her. My conclusion is that her weakness is something she keeps to herself, most likely a secret that she hasn’t shared with anyone. Once night reached, I turn and walk away from the pack land. Time to make a plan to discover why she was chosen by the great goddess. There has to be a reason for this, there has to be a reason that this girl is my current enemy and not my ally, my possible mate. It is going to be great to have a new toy for the time being. I can just feel white teeth glowing in the darkest, causing the animals around to go quiet, knowing what I am.
