Chapter 3 Library

And that should have been it. He accepts us, I stay with my family, train to be with a pack. But that begs the question of why would I even share my story? Because Avye wasn’t a wolf. A lycan is different; they are stronger, smarter, cannot be controlled, and have different powers. The only one we can use currently is when we shift, my clothing is no longer destroyed. Another question would be as to why his voice didn’t sing to me. It didn’t draw me to him, it didn’t make us want to run to him, be next to him. It was like we only accepted this as an arrange marriage.             As always the ground around me smokes when Avye’s bones begin the snap, returning me to my body. My blue dress the same as when I was in the ball room. All eyes on me, my hair fell around my shoulders. I felt my mother being held back by my father, my brothers took a guarded step toward me, like I would attack them. I rolled my eyes, I had been freed from my secret, which means, I wouldn’t hold back anymore.             “I, Mina Opal, companion to Queen Lycan Avye, reject you, King Alpha LeRoy Blackworth as my king, and as my alpha.” I stood as elegant as I could, holding onto everything my mother had taught me over the years. I had to hold more grace and charm than the dangerous aura that everyone would believe me to have. “If you wish to have a chance as my mate, prove your worth.”             I lifted the tail of my dress, turning away from the gathering, heading to my home. As far as I knew, this was my last night with my family, and it was already after midnight. I felt my mother break from my father’s hold and run to follow me.             I’m sure my father and brothers would speak with the remaining wolves, and explain that I didn’t reject my mate, and that they would speak with me. And I’m sure father would be angry that I didn’t explain myself. But this was my only way of fighting back, to protect myself.             “Mina, come with me to the library,” my mother pulled my arm, and I followed. I could never argue with her, mother had a different control to me than my brothers. I’m sure this was part of it.             The library was on the second floor of what I have always our mansion castle hybrid. And one of my favorite rooms to hide it. It held so much on the packs of this area, and as well as our pack’s history. Mother walked to the far end of the room. Her blonde hair was up like a crown on her head, her dress was the same color as mine. Looking at her, I could see the faded lines of her wrinkles.             I wonder how long it has been since I really looked at her, or father. I was so worried about if my secret got out that I hadn’t really worried about anything else.             When we reach the end of the library with the family portraits on the wall, mother just looked at them. I followed her eyes and looked at our family’s legacy. “Ever luna that has ever been in our family has been a white wolf until Penelope.” Her eyes held so much pride and joy, it was like some unknown dream of hers had come true. But her voice was distance, like she wasn’t sure who she was talking to.             “Mother?”             Her green eyes blinked, as they moved to look at me. Though the light in the library was off, they looked blue. “My mother had golden white fur, like mine. She would tell me stories of when she was a child, saying how the moon goddess only has the best for the white wolves, that they were kissed by her love.” Mother shook her head, “I knew when I was pregnant with you, that you were a girl. I knew you would have a white wolf in you.” Her eyes once again looked blue. “I guess Avye resurfaced when you turned sixteen?”             “Resurfaced?” Told you.             “When you were young, I sealed her away until you were ready. Don’t look at me like that. Had I let you two grow you would have been killed.” I guess my face just screamed shocked.             She sighed looking back at the portraits again. “Some days I wish I could have asked your father not to fight for my birthright. Maybe then you wouldn’t have carry this on your shoulders.”             “Mother, what are you talking about?” My voice blended with Avye’s. After so many years of wanting answers, here they were. And mother couldn’t seem to keep her thoughts straights.             “We have never told the alpha, just pass the secret to the luna." At this point, I believe my mother didn't know how to explain, because she kept moving around, trying to think of what to say next.             Her hands moved in front of her, holding the other one. "This pack is the last lycan pack. All members are sealed, but the true luna. ” I took a step away from her. “Don’t look at me like that. I couldn’t understand why you didn’t shift on your sixteenth birthday. You have never smelled like a wolf, or have anything that could have proven you shifted. I had planned to train you. Make you the leader you were meant to be.”              She turned and walked to the nearby window, “We carry the lycan line in us. And you,” she turned again to face me. With the moon light around her, she looked like she was glowing, and her eyes were in fact blue, “You will free us.”
