The Demons Reign

CHAPTER ONE    "Elias...!!" The Devil called out as demons assembled, "Yes master!" Elias answered, standing up. "Come hither" Lucifer ordered with a wave of hand and Elias came to him, "The destruction of the human race is in our hands now, the creator has abandoned his creatures so we have to take over and help him end them, so therefore I appoint you to do that, as two angels destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, you are going to destroy them" Lucifer spoke up,  "How am I to do that?" Elias asked. "I'm sending you to the center of the earth which has become venerable and with a devastating blow from you, the whole world will go crumbling down!" "Okay!" Elias agreed but asked, "But where is the center of the earth" "Los Angeles, USA" Lucifer said.   All the demons yelled raising their hands in excitement at the destruction of the world. Lucifer came down from his throne, walked towards Elias, tapping him on his shoulder he said, "Make us proud" and with a snap of finger, followed by a puff of smoke, Elias disappeared from hell.  Another puff of smoke on the surface of the earth, Elias found himself in front of a building with a set of keys in his hand. "Well that was fast" Elias spoke up as he moved into the house.   Just inside his house, Lucifer sat on a chair at the corner of the sitting room with legs crossed. "What took you so long to get in" he greeted Elias who was shocked to see him, "How did you...?" Elias asked, Lucifer interrupted, smiling, "I'm the devil! I am mysterious in my ways”. “Sit down!" He commanded and Elias obeyed, "So are you ready for this task?" Lucifer asked, "Yes I am" answered Elias. "Do not fail me, do not fail us, let's tell the creator that we can cause the end of the works of his hands, his greatly beloved mankind will fall" Elias replied with a nod of head, "In two months time, you shall carry out the assignment, all you need will be made available, all you need is to ask" the devil said patting him on his shoulder and headed to the door. PUFFFF was what Elias heard as the Devil disappeared.    He stood from where he sat and entered in, "this is really a big house" Elias said to himself with a beaming smile. IN HELL Lucifer gathered a few of his most trusted and powerful demons and said, "we need to keep an eye on Elias", " I agree but who would do that?" Reckon a demon asked, "don't we trust him?" Aza another demon asked, "Ehmm, well... We do" Lucifer answered, "But we need to check on him" Reckon said with a mean face at Aza. Reckon who was higher in rank to Aza continued, “Since no one wants to volunteer, I’ll go”.  Now Reckon hated Elias and was jealous of him because he was chosen. Aza who was Elias best friend knew this and tried preventing him from going on this volunteering vision. “ My Lord, Reckon should not go, I trust Elias to do the job and we should do that too and we all know that Reckon has been envious of Elias since we rebelled against the Creator “ “That’s true,” Lucifer said, “but we still need to send him, moreover he’s a higher principality to you, so you should respect him and obey” the devil added. Reckon smiled wickedly at Aza and bowed to the devil, “I’m humbled by your words and thankful for letting me” and with a puff of smoke he disappeared. “You know Aza, I think you should go too and prevent Reckon from doing something nasty” Lucifer said to Aza who smiled and vanished too. LATER ON EARTH “It’s really beautiful here” Elias soliloquized as he walked along the street of LA savoring the environment, “too bad we’ll destroy it”. He wore a black top and a blue jean with sunglasses to his eyes. His phone rang… “ I have a phone?” Elias asked as he picked the call, “Hello!”, “Mr. Elias, you are late for work” the voice from the phone spoke, “What!” Surprised Elias shouted, “Ehmm… Please who’s this?”, “ it’s your Secretary, Mr. Kim” the voice spoke, “Ehm… Alright, I’ll be on my way” Elias replied as the call ended. “How did I own a company?” “Now you do, now follow my lead” a voice spoke, “What! Who’s talking?” Elias asked, “It’s your devilish conscience stupid!” It said as Elias was drawn to a direction.     “You are late to work on the board meeting Sir!” Mr. Kim said as he attended to Elias in his office, “Ehmm… I… I was busy with something” he replied, “well whatever you were doing, it’s gone, you should now go to the board meeting” Mr Kim said as he handed him a tablet and less the way. After the board meeting, Elias went back to his office, feeling exhausted he relaxed on his chair, “Damn! This human body I’m putting on is really weak, can’t believe I got tired after 8hrs of the board meeting” he said as he rocked his chair. “Hope you are enjoying your blissful life?” Lucifer said as he appeared walking towards him.  Elias was startled as be jerked off his seat, “Uhm… You should stop doing that” he said as he bowed his head down, “Yeah I understand, the human body is full of fears and is weak of my presence but the demon in you is strong and I hope is focused too” the devil replied as he walked around the room. “What do you want?” Elias spoke up after several minutes of silence ensured, “Well… I came here to check on you” Lucifer replied facing him with a beaming smile, “I can handle myself” Elias said as he sat down quietly. “I know but common, can’t I whoosh in once in a while?” Lucifer said coming closer to him, “You should stop and hold your peace till I complete the mission” Elias said, “Okay, no matter what you said sounded rude but I kinda like it…. If you say so, I’ll be gone and you won’t see me again just do it” Lucifer replied sternly, “I will” Elias said and the devil vanished.   Just then Mr Kim entered, “Excuse me Sir is anything the problem?” “No, why asking?” Elias asked, “Ehmm… I heard you talking to yourself so I decided to check in” Mr. Kim replied, “I’m fine so you can go now” Elias said with a wave of hands, “Okay Sir” was the reply as his secretary left the room.     Few hours later, Elias was back from work as he dropped his blazzers on his bed and went into the bathroom. “This life is beautiful, I couldn’t imagine I could be where I am today, being faithful really pays” he said to himself as he took his bath. It was the midnight hour and Elias was set to check out the centre of the earth that was located in the city. He dressed simple and off he hit the streets.     The moon was up but wasn’t noticed by most citizens because of the abundance of light emitted from shops, Street lights, cars, and buildings. Disco music played in some shops, people chatting along the streets, a gang smoking at one corner, a few beggars still sitting on the pavement by the road. The night was still busy as Elias strolled along, “This looks good” he said to himself as he danced along the tune of a disco music playing from a barber’s shop.    A man ran pass him with a bag in his hands, policemen in pursuit, “and here’s a criminal” he said stopping to watch the scene as the policemen caught the thief, “We got you this time and there’s no escaping from prison” one of the cops said as the three passed him heading to a police car in front. “Too bad” He said and continued his journey.
