CHAPTER FORTY-SIX

“Test our strengths? We don’t know what you mean?” Dinia asked, “don’t tell me you guys are strong and dumb” Lilith mocked as she laughed. Elias face had anger written all over it like a scroll, he didn’t know what to do, his thoughts were all about the plan Lilith had crafted out and what she was up to

“What strengths is she talking about?” he asked himself, “I really don’t know how to outsmart Lilith in whatever plan she has already”, “I will just wait and see”

Meanwhile on earth, Rowland tried calling Elias’ phone but it was not reachable. “Where has he gone too?” he asked. He was still at the office, watching the time at every hour that ticked. He missed his daughter already and couldn’t wait to meet her at home. “I think I should call Dinia so I can speak with my daughter” he thought, picking his phone and dialing Dinia’s number.

“The number you tried cannot be reached” was the response he got after dialing her number. He raised his eyebrow and called Aza’s phone number, he got this same response and then he suspected something was wrong. “How is the three of their lines not going through?”, “Elias is not in the office and his phone not reachable, so is Aza and Dinia. Something must be wrong” he said to himself.

Rowland stood up, and went to Mr. Kim’s office, “I will be leaving now” he said, “Now? It is not yet time for closure Mr. Rowland” Mr. Kim pointed out. “I know but it’s an emergency” he replied and walked out of the office. He retried Dinia’s number and it said the same thing as last time.

“Something is definitely wrong” he said, quickening his steps as he left the building. He got to his car and zoomed off. “I’ll check Dinia’s eatery first” he said driving towards that direction.

On getting there he discovered the shop was closed, he stood at the entrance, looking at passer-bys, “did they open today?”, “they should, Dinia Nevers misses a day”. “I think I need to ask one of these people passing by, they may have an idea” he said to himself as his eyes scanned around, looking for a suitable person to ask.

Just then he saw a man sitting on a car’s hood, with a stick of cigarette in between his lips. “I’ll ask him” Rowland said walking towards the smoker. “Excuse me sir” Rowland said to the man, “Yes, what can I do for you man?” The man replied puffing smoke at his face. “please do you by any chance know if this eatery got opened today” he asked pointing at the shop. “Well yes they did but something happened which I really don’t know. They hurriedly closed up and zoomed off” the man replied.

“Okay” Rowland said nodding his head, “did you see any child with them? Like when they closed?”, “a little child? What gender?” the smoker asked, “a girl” Rowland replied, “No I didn’t see any child, just the two of them” the man replied.

On hearing this, Rowland staggered few steps backwards, “this can’t be what I think it is” he thought, running to his car. “I hope Rebecca is not lost”. “Where will I begin to look for them?” he asked hoping to get answers from someone. “I have to check the house, she might be there” he assumed and drove off.

“What is your plan?” Elias asked Lilith, “we have been staring at your face for a while now and yes we know you are good looking but we are tired, what is the plan?”. Lilith smiled and replied, “Your powers work on earth, in here you have no powers because I designed it to be so. The only being here with exclusive powers is me, so I was thinking, how fun it would be to tear you all apart”.

“We are not scared of you Lilith!” Aza said, “just be a gentle princess and give us the girl”. On hearing the words, “little princess” Elias was shocked as he turned towards Aza and bit his lips before saying, “I forgot to tell you guys, but she hates being called little princess”.

But it was too late as the words has flown into the ears of Lilith and she boiled in rage. Her eyes turned coal red and smoke escaped her nostrils. She spread her hands apart and her hair floated on the air, “you dare call me little princess?” she said.

The ground quaked and wind blew across their faces. “You dare call me little princess” she said again. This time the ground quaked more severely, “you fool!” she exclaimed pointing towards Aza. “Oh no” Aza said as he saw what was coming towards him.

A sand like rock flew towards Aza. Elias could not let his friend get killed because of him anymore so he ran and pushed Aza who fell on the ground. The rock hit Elias and he flew, falling few meters from where they were. Dinia seeing this screamed, holding her mouth not to scream the more.

Lilith laughed, “I love to hear screams, scream for me” she sad as she sent more sand like rocks towards Aza and Dinia.

Dinia and Aza looked at themselves and in their eyes was the decision to die together. Aza mouthed the words, “I love you” touching her cheeks and Dinia smiling, having a satisfying feeling of dying together with her love. And then the rock hit them.

Lilith laughed so hard, “feeble beings” she said while laughing., “you all are no worthy opponent” she said.

Just then, the dust settled slowly and as the environment became clearer, there stood two beings. Lilith squeezed her eyes as she tried looking through the haze in front of her. The dust finally settled and there stood Aza and Dinia, smiling and looking untouched and unscratched.

“What the hell!” Lilith exclaimed. “No, what’s in heaven” Aza replied. Lilith could not believe what she was seeing at that moment. She just threw the heaviest rock in the history of rocks at her enemies and it got destroyed on hitting them, leaving no scratch.
