Chapter 36

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

“Who is it?” Rowland said as he got to his front door, “We’re here Rowland” Elias’ voice flowed through the sides of the door. On opening it, he was shocked to see Aza who was smiling, “hello Rowland” he said. “It’s unbelievable, how did this happen?” Rowland thought standing fixed at the spot.

“Won’t you let us in?” Elias asked, bringing the thought wanderer back to the reality he was in. “I’m sorry, please come in” he said moving out of the way and the three came in. Yes! Dinia joined the men, she couldn’t let Aza off her sight, thinking he would disappear into thin air.

“I know you are surprised to see me and probably scared too” Aza said after they had sat down, “I’m just shocked” Rowland replied, “Well, I’m alive and in flesh and blood and you know why I was brought back?” Aza asked smiling. “Uhm, Yes” Rowland said preparing his mind to accept anything he would hear very soon.

“It was because of you, Rowland. Because of the way Elias treated you and it was because of my loss so to make Elias and you friends again, I had to come back from the dead” Aza concluded. Elias stood up and went to Rowland who got scared, “Cool down Row, I can’t and I don’t want to hurt you.” Elias said, “I am truly sorry for the inhumane treatment I did to you”, touching his chest, he continued, “I feel like a fool and still feel so weird making apologies but I am so sorry and I really want us to be friends again”.

Rowland exhaled, looked around the room to see the faces of the people in his room making sure he was not being pranked. Who knows, he was the only human - human in the room and they would have scheduled a plan on their way home.

Elias stretched his hands of friendship towards him with smiles on his face, “Let’s start from where we stopped and forget what ever happened between us, putting everything behind us” he said. “Okay” Rowland replied, grabbing his hands and getting on his feet, “I’m glad we can be friends once again. I feel relieved” Rowland added.

“Weird, I was about saying the same thing. But why do I feel so light and free, like I was caged in hell” Elias commented. “I really don’t know how to say this but I will try to put it the best way I can” Rowland said scratching his head with his finger

“I can help you with that” Dinia spoke up after being silent and observing everything that was happening in the room. “Elias when you have an argument or keep a grudge, your heart becomes heavy especially when you see or hear the name of the person. You get angry and upset… it’s like a chain in which you tied yourself but when you apologize and put everything behind you sincerely, you will feel easy because your heart will instantly feel light” she explained

“How did you know all of that?” the three men chorused, “Well, while I was moaning, the only thing that comforted me were books, so I read a lot of books this past month and I tell you it changed my mentality.” Dinia replied.

“That’s right” Rowland affirmed, “books shape your mind” he added. “Then I have to get me some books, like a lot” Elias replied and all laughed. “You know you guys came in early so I couldn’t prepare any meals. I’m sorry so I will have to go put something up” Rowland said stepping back words

“Nope, you have to sit here and catch up with your gender”, Dinia protested, “I’ll do the cooking and trust me I am an excellent cook now” she added and Elias nodded in agreement. “Okay then, have your way” Rowland replied sitting down while Dinia made her way to the kitchen.

“Where’s Rebecca?” Elias asked, “in her room, playing with her toys” Rowland replied, “okay then” Elias said turning on the TV.

In few minutes, the trio was on the dinning table, while Dinia whistled happily, serving them. “Baby, won’t you join us?” Aza asked when he noticed his portion was more than others and she just sat watching him eat. “Just eat baby, watching you eat gives me satisfaction” she said smiling.

“Hey! Not in my house” Rowland protested, “you guys aren’t going to do this romance in my house”, he added and laughter filled the room. The four friends talked on random things, laughing as they talked like there was never a strife or a moment of loss that happened between them.

Rowland paused and watched as each of hem laughed, he thought, “the arrival of Aza back from the dead made this laughter happen and yes I am happy for them but why? Why God. Why did you not bring back Rose since bringing back Aza was because of me,why not bring back Rose because of me too”.

This thought brought pain to his heart and one time happy Rowland, became sad and a tear left one of his eyes. Noticing it, he quickly cleaned his face before anyone could say a thing. But it was too late, the all sensitive Elias had noticed the sudden change on his face but didn’t ask a question.

ELIAS’ POV

“Why is he moody now? Is he unhappy of the return of Aza? Just a moment ago he was really happy so what now?” “I have to ask him but not here, I don’t want to ruin anything”.

AZA’S POV

I’m so glad I was honored to be brought back. I have missed you Dinia, your face, beautiful smiles and sweet voice. I am so grateful God even though I really don’t know what is your big plan but whatever it is, please let it not leave sadness on our faces.

“Do you need more babe?” Dinia asked Aza when she saw he had finished his food, “no I’m filled honey. Thank you” he replied her, squeezing her hands softly. Elias noticed this and smiled, thinking, “love is sweet but it is weird I haven’t found it yet”.
