Chapter 58

CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT

Rowland brought the files as requested to Elias house that night. He struggled with them as they filled his hands till he got to his destination where Aza helped him with some.

Agatha was lying down on one of the sofas, Elias sat close to her and Aza after dropping the files he had in his hands sat on a chair facing the television. “Thank you so much Rowland” Elias said after Rowland had sat down. “So when will the files be ready?” Rowland said without replying to the gratitude Elias offered.

It was at that moment Elias discovered Rowland wasn’t happy and he knew why, so he apologized, “I am so sorry for today Row”. “You need to be serious with your company Elias. Your lack of seriousness may affect your employees and they too will become like this and then the growth of the company will be affected” Rowland said pouring out his mind.

“I know and I am sorry, I promise it won’t happen again” Elias said, “I hope not” Rowland replied. Just then Dinia called out, “Food is ready, please everyone should be seated at the dinning table for dinner is about to be served”.

Aza was the first to get up, followed by Rowland. Elias helped Agatha to her feet and guided her to the seat she was to sit. “Thank you” she whispered and Elias smiled moving over to his seat. Few minutes later, Dinia brought the food she had cooked and laid it on the table one after the other.

 “This looks delicious” Elias commented, “it won’t only look, it will taste delicious” Rowland replied and Dinia laughed as she sat down. They ate in silence for a while and while this was going on, Dinia tapped Elias and signaled him to do an introduction.

“I’m sorry” Elias apologized, “forgive my manners as I forgot to do the needful” he added, clearing his throat he began introducing each of his friends to Agatha formally and they replied, “nice meeting you” to each other.

After dinner, Elias signaled Rowland to wait for him while he took Agatha upstairs to his room. Aza came over to where Rowland sat and said, “you won’t blame him for acting this way, he has never been in love and this is his first”. “When you fell in love with Dinia, did you behave this way?” Rowland asked Aza who was trying to cover up his friend

“No because we were at war at that moment, so no time to behave this way” Aza replied, “you should just forgive him and try to tolerate this attitude. It is because the love is new and like I said, it is his first time which you know already. Soon it will fade off and Elias will be himself again” he added.

“I hope he comes back to himself soon enough” Rowland muttered as Elias climbed down the stairs. “I’m sorry for the delay” Elias apologized, “it is fine” they both chorused. “So what happened today was baffling and I just can’t remove it from my memory” Elias began explaining.

“So what happened?” Rowland asked, “Agatha almost got hit by a truck but thank heavens I was there” Elias answered. “What would have happened if I wasn’t there or if I had no power” he added. Rowland nodded and said, “remember what I said earlier today? It could be for this kind of reasons the powers are still with you guys. To prevent something from happening”.

Aza added, “I remember that day I saved an old man that came to eat at the shop from falling”, the other two nodded their heads as they could recall. “Did God leave this powers so we could do good works and save people?” Elias asked. “You never can tell. It might be but we are not yet sure” Rowland replied.

“But we can be sure” Dinia said interjecting into the conversation. “How did you..” Rowland was about protesting when Dinia touched her ears and he got the point. She has super hearing too. “How do you mean?” Elias asked, “how do you mean we can be sure?”

“With Raphael’s help” Dinia suggested, “Again!!” the men chorused, “Yes, or is there anything wrong with that?” Dinia asked. “Am I the only one or is it that this is a form of déjà vu?” Aza asked.

This question made them think for a while and each remembered when they had these powers and it stayed with them for a while before Raphael came in and unveiled to them what was to come. “This is strange, I am sensing a plot twist” Elias said with his hand to his chin. “In whatever case, you guys need to be careful” Rowland replied as he made to leave.

“I will see you off” Elias volunteered as the two friends left the house. It was then they realized rain was falling and Rowland didn’t come with his car. “oh my” he said on seeing the rainfall, “how will I be able to go home?” he asked. “Here” Elias voice rang into his ears as he turned to see Elias giving him a car key, “you can drive it home, I’ll come over to take it after work tomorrow” Elias said.

Rowland smiled and hugged Elias, “thank you so much” he said and Elias replied, “thank you too”. “Drive carefully” Elias said to his friend as he watch him go over to his car, opened it and drove it away.

“Now it is time to face those files” Elias said to himself entering inside. He met the living room empty, “great, now I can have you to myself” he said referring to the files awaiting his approval on the table in front of him.

Agatha tapped Elias on the cheek waking him up. Just then Elias found out he slept off while checking on the files. “Oh God, I slept off” he said, cleaning his eyes. “Babe, you need to sleep, you are stressed and your body needs that rest” she said. Elias opened a few of the files and noticed he was almost done, “I’m almost done honey” he said.

“You know, I got worried when I couldn’t find you in bed. You house is so big to look for you, thank heavens I followed by intuition and came here” Agatha said as she sat down beside him. Elias smiled and said while he flipped through pages of a file in his hands, “I am so sorry baby, sorry for making you worried, just let me finish these files to be submitted today at the office and I will join you in bed”. “Alright but I give you 5 minutes” Agatha replied watching him.
