CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

“What!” Lucifer exclaimed as he stood up, “Are you sure of what you are saying?” he asked. “Yes my lord, I had to confirm the news twice before coming to report it to you” the demon replied, “to add to this, Elias was admitted in the hospital and he is currently weak at home”. “So he no longer has the angel's strength?” Lucifer asked nodding his head with smiles all over his face.

“What should we do now master?” Reckon asked, “Should we attack now?” “No, we should wait, let's keep observing” Lucifer advised. “Yes my lord” they both chorused and left his presence. “Finally, l can get my revenge and get my honor back” the devil said smiling.

Earth

Elias, Aza and Dinia has no idea they were under surveillance, Elias who was still recovering from his visit to the hospital was all alone at home while Aza and Dinia enjoyed their human lives, “what else is there to loose” they thought. Attending night clubs to events hosted in the locale.

“You guys should take it easy” Elias advised on an occasion they both came back from a pool party, “Elias when you fully recover you need to attend this party at the pool”, Aza replied, “the humans call it uhmm… what’s that again my love?” he asked Dinia, “pool party” she answered. 

“They wear something that reveals their bodies, from the breasts to the laps. My eyes have seen a lot today” Aza said almost laughing, “Aza!” Elias and Dinia called him at once like they had it planned out together. “what?” Aza replied as he walked inside.

“How do you feel about all these?” Elias asked Dinia, “about what?” she asked backed ignorant of what Elias was asking in. “About Aza” he answered, “well, what about him?” She asked, “common Dinia, you can’t lie to me about Aza's recent behavior. Don’t you feel he would do something stupid soon?” Elias said feeling worried, “I doubt that but don’t worry I cant take care of everything” she assure him, tapping him on the shoulders before walking in.

Just then, a knock on the door was heard, “who's that?” Elias asked walking towards the door, “Rowland” Rowland replied from outside. The door was opened and he entered, “you're welcome” Elias said following him in.

“You guys have redecorated” Rowland commented as he observed the change in colors and arrangement. “You should thank Dinia” Elias replied, “She just suddenly developed the love for purple”. Rowland smiled and replied, “I like it”. “Really?” Elias asked surprised, “Yes or don’t you like it?” Rowland asked. “Well, I would prefer blue” Elias answered. “You too have developed the love for a certain color” Rowland said.

“What?” Elias asked in shock, “it's nothing, it’s normal human attribute. We tend to prefer some colors over others. So it is normal” Rowland explained smiling. “Okay, so please have a seat” Elias said as they were still standing while this conversation was going on.

“Thank you” Rowland relied as he sat down. “So tell me, what’s going on in the office?” Elias asked concerned, “First of all, they were all surprised on how I became the manager and there were murmurs in some places. If not for the video you made, no one would have let me take that position especially Mr. Kim” Rowland said

“But why?” Elias asked, “Well he has been working hard and keeping everything in shape while we were both busy with you know, saving the world so everyone thought he deserved that position” Rowland explained. “What do you think?” Elias asked him, “I think they are right. Mr. Kim deserves it not me and I understand it was because of what we both faced together but he deserves it even more” Rowland shared his thought and Elias nodded his head.

“You amaze me Rowland. You remain selfless and kind. Not everyone will recommend someone above themselves you know right?” Elias said, “Yes” Rowland replied. “Okay then, let’s do another video, we are promoting Mr. Kim to the position of the Vice President, hope that’s okay?” Elias asked. Rowland smiled before replying to the question, “it is okay and he would really be happy, so let’s start to create the video” he said pulling his phone from his pocket.

“Before we start, let me make it plain that you are still the manager” Elias pointed out while Rowland nodded his head in agreement.

Lucifer paced around hell feeling anxious, “What am I doing here?” he asked himself, “have I forgotten I don’t need anyone's permission to leave hell?” “I really need to see things for myself” he said as he prepared to leave.

Two days later

In Delta I.T, Rowland showed the video of Elias giving instructions to his staff and all watched in silence. After the end of the video a clap was heard as congratulations echoed everywhere in the room. Mr. Kim was all beaming in smiles, “thank you everyone for your support, thank you Rowland for putting word out there for me. I really appreciate and also help me thank Mr. Elias for this opportunity. I will make everyone proud.” He gave his speech bowing down in humility.

ROWLAND'S POV

As he watched the smiles on everyone’s face, he thought to himself, “This is what the devil wanted to destroy? Look at Mr. Kim bowing his head. He is so humble. There are so many reasons to save earth”.

That evening, Elias took a stroll. He thought to himself, “It feels like I haven’t stepped out for year”. At that moment he saw a familiar figure looking at him from a distance, “what in the hell?” he said as fear gripped his body and it began to tremble. The figure smiled and waved his hand before taking steps towards him.

Elias turned to the opposite direction and fled, looking back at intervals. He stumbled and fell groaning in pains. He looked at his knee, it was badly injured, “God” he said rubbing the blood that escaped his body.

“Hello Elias, long time no see” Lucifer said standing before him
