CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

“There is no harm in trying” Rowland thought as he got up with the documents that were given to him by Mr. Kim. “I’ll have to call on Raphael, if he doesn’t come then fine” he said.

“Yes… you know you can trust Delta I.T and we deliver on time… our testimonies tell more of the excellency in our services… when should we schedule the meeting? Okay I’ll get ready… bye” Elias dropped the call after speaking with a client. He stretched on his seat and yawned, he was tired and was ready to leave his office for home.

At the parking lot, Elias met Rowland who was waiting for him beside his car, “hey!” he greeted surprised on seeing him beside his car. “I’ve been waiting for you here for an hour” Rowland replied. “Well you didn’t let me know you were waiting. What if I planned on staying in the office for the night, would you still wait?” Elias replied opening the driver’s door. “I think we need to call Raphael” Rowland said before Elias could step into his car.

This statement made Elias stop between his tracks and said “you are still unto this? I really don’t know why you are troubled about what that doesn’t involve you? Rowland, you need to let this go and moreover have you forgotten Raphael told you his mission with us is over?”. “What if he is given another mission for us but all we need to do is to ask?” Rowland replied

Elias was becoming impatient, “look Rowland, you can do whatever you want to do but I have no interest in this. You are trying to meddle with affairs that could cause you a great deal and as your friend I strongly advise you to stay off from the spiritual”. “If you are not doing this, I am doing this for you. I am going to find answers” Rowland replied as he walked away.

Elias watched him walk and with a shake of bead, he entered his car and zoomed off. On getting home, he met Dinia and Aza. They looked exhausted as well due to a busy day as they laid in the living room. Aza on the ground and Dinia on the couch.

“Rowland is getting obsessed with this soul issue” he said, loosening his tie and walking into the living room. “He is just a little curious and I support him” Dinia said, “your support is really going to get him in danger which we won’t be able to help” Aza replied her. “If we all said no, he would have given up but no, you are still behind him” he added.

Elias sat down and exhaled, “so what are we going to do?” he asked, “because I have tried to put him out of this thought but to no avail”. “We can’t do anything but let him have his way” Dinia suggested. “There is something we want to tell you” she said sitting up and looking at Aza who sat up and nodded for her to go on. “I really don’t understand but we got our powers back”

“What!” Elias exclaimed in shock, “how?” he asked. “We do not know, all we know is that….” Aza said as he narrated what happened on that day

FLASH BACK

Aza who was with a tray in his hands, containing a customer’s order with his eyes on the table which he was to deliver this food. He smiled and waved at other customers who was seated and enjoying the delicious meal prepared by Dinia, when he saw a man few feet from him slip as he stepped on a biscuit wrap.

Aza ran to him and caught him in mid air, made him stand to his feet and ran to where he stood before the incident happened, catching his tray with the contents still intact. Everyone couldn’t believe their eyes on what they just saw. He was surprised on the number of eyes that looked at him, “why are they all looking at me?” he asked himself as he walked to the customer’s table.

Just then, the incident played in his head and he discovered he just ran in super speed, saved a man who was about smashing his head on the ground and catching his tray with it’s content in mid air. He got surprised at once and scared too, he had just ran in front of people and they all saw what happened.

At the customer’s table, the woman who sat they tapped him at the sleeves and said, “How did you do that sir? One minute you were with that man and before we could applaud you, you were back to the position you were, like nothing happened. We didn’t see you run, all we knew was you were here and there at the same time”.

Aza could not say anything as he dropped the content on their table and walked hurriedly to where Dinia was cooking. “Baby did you see what happened?” he asked, “No babe” she replied, “I was busy, I just noticed the unusual silence and the number of eyes feed on you. Did you do anything?” she asked.

“My powers are back” he whispered in her eyes. This statement made her laugh before replying, “you are joking right? How is that possible?” and in front of her, Aza super speeded to the beginning of the hall to her position in seconds. Dinia was speechless, all she could do was swallow hard.

“This is scary” She said, “why did it come back?” she asked. Just as she was held a steel plate containing so sliced vegetables, it got bent. She grasped, holding her mouth not to scream. “Did she just bend that plate without any applied force?” she asked herself. She had super strength and this made her scared.

PRESENT DAY

On hearing this, Elias was physically shivering. He was scared and couldn’t say a word for a few minutes before muttering, “Something bad is about to happen”. “We feel the same way too Elias and we are scared. Here was I thinking everything is for ne and we can live like normal humans.” Dinia said.

“Rowland is going to get his self into a lot of trouble” Elias said, “we need to stop him before he does anything stupid”. “But Elias, haven’t you felt anything since today?” Aza asked, wanting to know if Elias had had a sign of his powers being returned.
