Chapter 42

CHAPTER FORTY-TWO

That evening, while Elias, Aza and Dinia were at home discussing, they heard a knock coming from the entrance door. Dinia went to check who was it, “who is there?” She asked politely, “Rowland” was what she got and recognizing his voice, she opened the door

Rowland and Raphael walked in. Off course Dinia was surprised see Raphael with him and this could only mean one thing, “a message”. She hurriedly closed the door and followed them behind as they made their way to the living room.

Just as Dinia was surprised, Elias and Aza had the same expression hanging on their faces for sometime as they watch Raphael smile and got seated on one of the chairs that was empty.

“You guys are surprised right?” Raphael asked after he had gotten seated comfortably. “Yes” they chorused uniformly and the angel smiled. “I know you will because I said I won’t come to visit you guys anymore right? Well necessity has call s for this meeting and all we can do is to answer” Raphael explained while they watched him, not believing their view.

“To this end, let’s just begin immediately and save ourselves from some unnecessary pleasantries” Raphael said, pausing q little to observe his audience. They were listening with rapt attention, “now here is the thing, there is a question you were left to answer but did not get to because obviously you didn’t know the answer and I am here to explain it and answer it the best way I can okay?”

They nodded their head, wanting to know the next sentence of words that would come out from his mouth. “You know you can speak up” Raphael pointed out. He still got a round of nods. “This is weird” he thought “but I will continue”.

“The soul is one vital part of the human for without it, the human is dead. It is the soul that contributes to the emotions, thoughts, ideas of the body. When you first saved humanity and became human, you had no soul. It was impossible for a human not to get a soul but you guys weren’t humans and as a befitting punishment for you for siding with the devil during your stay in the glorious city before the fall. But the death of Aza changed everything”

At this point, Elias asked, “how did it?”, “Aza sacrificed himself for you, having no thought about what would happen to him if he does.” Raphael began to answer, “because of that single act, he was granted a soul that is why he could find himself in the realm of the dead.”

“So why didn’t he go to the glorious city and get judge?” Dinia asked and Aza nodded in agreement, “because he isn’t worthy, he wasn’t a demon and the fall of Lucifer and his followers sealed their entry. They cannot enter and b cause Aza couldn’t go to hell too for he will be treated badly, his soul had to wonder timelessly in the realm of the dead” Raphael explained.

“Do we have souls?” Elias asked, “since Aza has one, do we?” he asked doing a hand gesture pointing to him and Dinia. Raphael smiled and answered, “Yes, you both have souls”. This statement made the three of the shout for joy. They hugged each other.

The joy in their hearts and the expression on their faces were priceless. This brought a tear to Rowland’s eyes as he was happy to know his friends were now full human beings. Raphael watched with happiness but he didn’t have the whole time to be there so he cleared his throat signaling the calmness of he environment

“But what happens when they die?” Rowland asked, “do they roam like Aza did?” There is already a place their souls belong to which isn’t heaven or hell. It is a place of solitude” the angel replied softly. This didn’t cause any reaction in the room as Raphael speculated

“Well it is better than phasing out of existence” Elias thought. “Any more questions?” Raphael asked but got no response, so he continued, “Now for the unanswered question of why your powers returned to you and why you still have it a month later, here is why”

He paused to create tension and anxiety in the room to know the answer and off course he got it as Aza said, “why did you stop? Continue please”. He smiled and continued, “there is a danger coming”.

“Danger?”, “Oh God not again”, “I knew it” these were words that Aza, Dinia and Elias said respectively in bitterness. Rowland could feel their frustration and he thought, “Raphael really knows how to create bubbles of happiness and burst them without thinking twice.”

“The saving of Rowland was just a fraction of what is to come and because of that you need your strength” the angel continued. The room was as quite as the cemetery.

ELIAS POV

I knew this would happen. At that moment we had this powers back I knew something is coming up. When I thought all of these were over and we can become peaceful exist as humans.

Aza could not say anything, he didn’t know what to say or think. He was about putting his life at risk again. The fear of going back to that realm still lingered in his mind. He didn’t want to leave the love of his life, Dinia again. He had heard everything she passed and how she was depressed without him and promising her he won’t leave her anymore, he wasn’t sure of that promise anymore.

They weren’t immortals and this kept him worried. Well he has to be careful was what he concluded with a drop of tears slipping down one of his eyes.

DINIA POV

Not again, not again. Why does this keep happening? Are we now God’s soldiers or battle weapons? What can we do to avoid all of this? I’m scared already. Who knows what kind of danger coming out way this time.
