Chapter One
My mother and I walk down a long hallway approaching two double entering the main building. We turn to face each other and she stares at me for a while. "What", I exclaimed as I chuckled to myself. She steps closer to me and pulls me into a hug. "Oh, my poor baby doesn't deserve to be in here. You ain't do nothing but defend yourself and I swear I would have killed that son of a bi-", I cut her off. "Mom it's fine. I'm fine. Please relax, it's just like a boarding school, just for boys who have slight behavioral problems. No big deal." Mom tries to make another remark but was interrupted by the swinging of the door in front of us. A broad man, height towering over mine. Maybe six feet or so. He gestures for us to walk into the main lobby.
As we Walk into the room, we are greeted with the stench of sweat and BO. "Good evening Cullen family. I am instructor Bob degroso. You may call me Mr.D or what the students call me, HARDASS. I am here to give the parents a tour of the facility while the student gets acquainted with their living quarters and route to get there. As you know, this isn't a regular school. Most students are independent and help responsible for all their actions and decisions. This helps correct the basics of behavioral issues and acts of aggression. Any questions?" My mom raises her hand, again he motions for mom to walk him and for me to go to the front desk.
As I start my walk to the front desk, I see one student pass by. He was tall. Extremely buff and had messy blonde hair. His stance was wobbly but he watched me get my student passes and keycard from the secretary. I didn't need any confrontations on my first day. I looked down, thanked the attendee, and walked to an elevator. He followed behind.
"Sup newbie, what's the name?"
I hesitated but then spoke up."I-Its uh .. Gavin." I scratched the nape on my neck while looking down at my dirty black sneakers in shame. "I'm already showing this guy that I'm weak," he thought to himself. What if he killed someone from just one strike at the head or snapped his neck. I attempted to look back up at him but his gaze was burning the back of my neck.
He stretches his hand out towards me. "Names Dominic but people call me dom. Nickname and for other reasons you'll soon to be finding out" He whispers the last part under his breath as he finally presses a button for two floors above me. "Cya around Gavin." he waves and gets off at his floor. I took a sigh of relief.
A short ride later, I arrive at my floor.
Room 4a,4b,4c,4d,ahhh 4e.
As I approached room 4E, I realized it was the only door that was at the end of the hallway, secluded from everyone else. "Maybe it'll be quieter," Gavin pondered to himself. He steps up to the door and claws at his chest. His nerves are jumpy and he waits with anticipation. Once he fully regains his composer, he follows through to go inside. At the swipe of a key card, Gavin walks through the thresh hold of his room. when we stepped inside, he couldn't help but notice that it looked awfully like an apartment suite. A window was in the middle of the room where a small dining table sat. It was facing the end of a connecting brick building but slightly sneaking a glimpse of the outside senary. Next to it was a corner with a mini-fridge, shelves for small items to be stored, and a portable stove that would be accustomed to being used for outdoor purposes. ( Like camping. ) He turned to the left and walked down through a small corridor. There stood two large doors. One had a bathroom sign meaning the other was the bedroom.
"For a school with the intent of hosting hostile boys in them, they sure do furnish the place nicely". I opened the black outlined door, it greeted me with a small bedroom and another large window. Unlike the one in the main area, this one had a better view of the city below. I sat my bags down and placed it on the back of a desk chair. The room has only one bed, desk, closet, and a small gray couch. From the looks of it, I wasn't going to have a roommate which was a major relief.
I had already arrived at the school later than scheduled. Orientation was in an hour and I had until then to unpack my belongings. A large duffle bag of the stuff I was bringing was coming tomorrow so I didn't need to worry. I'm already tired as it is. Having to move across this country, just to be put in a facility to "help teenaged boys with a behavioral problem" which I denied that I had. With that, I had set an alarm and decided to take a twenty-minute nap before orientation.
Knock knock knock
Knock knock knock
The knocks on the door were soft but eventually got louder. Not loud enough to wake me up. The door creeks open and a figure breezes by without a sound. He reaches the foot of the bed and they slowly bend at the waist. Their slender fingers grazed my shoulders giving me a spine chilling feeling.
It was enough for me to wake up startled. I jumped out from under the covers and sat up, looking around frantically. My eyes began to be agitated from the sudden reaction of my eyes flying open. I started rubbing my eyes at fast hastes in disbelief. "O-Oh my goodness, wow, I'm sorry am I in the wrong room, the lady must have given me the wrong keycard." I looked up at the fitly built guy looming over me, now standing straight up. The guy points to my phone that is still sounding off. "Your alarm was going off. You're going to be late." He about to walk out of the room before he turns around and spoke up." Jane didn't give you the wrong card, we share this room." Now he is completely out of sight. I inhale a deep breath and then plops onto the bed where I was previously sleeping on. "This is going to be a long year."
