Chapter 3: Off We Go

1261 Words
'Demons, the source of all evil, a term that strikes fear at the heart of every conscious creature, dubious at its core, and merciless as one book says, but why do I feel comforted at her, at her every word, she brought relief at my decade long muddled sorrowful thoughts that only death had an answer to, my empty hollow heart quivered at her announcement that makes no sense at all, -Hell is another planet.- -Demons are much like an alien species.- Normally, that would be surprising, but I had a nagging feeling, a nagging feeling that it was true, especially the thing she calls Entha, a calling of a greater power? I felt warm at the thought that she might be able to shed some light on what my purpose is. I may have been tempted by this young-looking demon, but it doesn't matter because right now I feel alive, much more alive than at any other point in my life. Just as I was about to swallow my words and agree to be her subordinate, I felt a chill at her cold stare, and the next thing I knew she had her fist buried in me, and it f*****g hurts! You worthless f**k, I could feel her hand wriggling like a worm on my chest making its way to my beating heart, f**k! I was mistaken; this is the true nature of a demon; how naive was I to think of working with such a merciless being? … What exactly is this? I can feel my skin slowly stretching along with my innards and my heart I felt no pain but it felt like you’re splitting into two, it was surprising after she forcefully yanked my heart out... Confused, I could still feel my heart beating and she had already retracted her arms from the hole she had created, which was healing at an abnormal rate, or so I thought, but as I looked behind me, I was there, or to be more specific, my body still wounded was there, still laying lifeless. A new body? Is this the soul? But looking at my hand, there was no physical difference from before, but mentally the fatigue I had previously was gone, and I could think clearly much clearer than before; this was the only difference; I had perceived the soul as something transparent, but I guess I was wrong... The only one who could answer such question would be the demon… When I returned my gaze to Esteroth and asked her what she had done, a looming fear entangled me suspecting that something might have gone wrong as instead of an answer, I saw her crimson eyes widen and her lips tremble. Why stare at me like that? This was you right? You did this, right? Did something go wrong?”   “An ‘All Seeing Eye” Esteroth muttered, trembling at the sight of Calix’s deep shade of green pupils.   Demons in Esteroth’s origin placed great value in the color of one’s eyes, it was the symbol of their Entha (calling), there are exactly six colored demon eyes, crimson, purple, brown, black, gold, green each have a unique function of their own, that said in the demon society it was not necessary to adhere to one’s eye color when choosing a profession but it would be an ordeal to fill the advantage lost from not possessing the right eye, thus majority of demons would choose the suitable profession in line with their eyes function. Not the lowest but the weakest in battle is crimson, the eye of temptation, a perfect suite for the millitary support job, they heed to summons from earth and helliun as their eyes specialized in the art of temptation which doesn’t affect their own kin, however these eyes were powerful enough to attract other specie making it easier for contracts to be formed.   [Contract is the medium used to store the summoner’s life force(mana), it is not an essential part of a demon’s everyday life but it gave enough boost for their millitary strength, this contracts which contains mana serve as an adrenaline shot for the demons.]   “Esteroth, I’m asking for the second time, What did you do to me?” asked Calix,   Regaining her composure, Esteroth inched her head on Calix’s face switching from one side to another, making sure that she wasn’t seeing things, Calix’s eye gave a small glint, sure enough it was the deep shade of green.   “Esteroth!?” Calix flinched at Esteroth’s sudden approach stepping backwards, a quick natural defense mechanism of his body prior to earlier event.   “Before that, you can see this right?” Said Esteroth, she motioned her palm forward and a shade of blue wind like thing started to gather in her palm.   Calix never had noticed it earlier, but the blue wind-like thing that was gathering in Esteroth's palm was all around them like a mist, and Esteroth's palm appeared to be siphoning it.   “Yeah they’re all around”   “I see…After I used my family’s unique magic, which drew what humans define as soul, I or the magic built a body similar to us for it to reside, that’s what I did, but for some reason, your eyes and hair, which should have been crimson as the expected outcome, but for some reason it had a different one, a green and black at that” explained Esteroth,   “Then what does that mean? Did it fail? Are you that shocked that your proud family magic failed?” chuckled Calix, mocking Esteroth, but she just smiled back and answered.   "I don't think it failed, but I discovered two surprising things." One is your green eye, which is unusual in the demon world, and another is the fact that you can actually smile."   “Is that so, I don’t feel any different tho,” replied Calix, ignoring Esteroth's teasing.   “Well the eye is not in use that’s why, try looking up and imagine the stars blocked by this ceiling and repeat after me, I Calix Reyes wholeheartedly accept my Entha”   “I Calix Reyes Wholeheartedly Accept My Entha” slowly said Calix imitating Esteroth,   “Do you see it the brilliance of the stars?”   The limited view Calix had, expanded far beyond his room which made him dizzy but he was fascinated by it, thus he concentrated more and had gone past the earths atmosphere but instead of the stars,   “No, but I can see two huge round white metallic wheels directly above us beyond the atmosphere it was the biggest object I have ever seen, they’re moving like a sphere, with eyes plastered on their sides, looking closely there’s someone miniature standing beside it…metallic shining wings and a halo on his head, is this perhaps an angel?” curiously asked Calix, but he turned stiff at Esteroths next words, he stopped his focus and stared at the sweating Esteroth.   “We have to run, grab my hand Calix” yelled Esteroth, her voice contained urge and she was obviously nervous. She swiftly grabbed Calix and chanted her magic despite her shaking voice.   “I… I Es-te-roth De Val, with the…the permission of…of the summoner I have completed my summon, take me back Gale!” yelled Esteroth-   Simultaneously, a pillar of light descended on Calix’s room. It was the angel with the glowing metallic wings and a glowing halo, it reached them before the magic had activated, it quickly raised its faintly glowing sword and swung forward.
