THIRTY-EIGHT The Cabinet Secretary, Chief Whip, and Admiral Chit Wesley, sat patiently around the table, blissfully unaware of what was going on around them, no more than a few hundred metres away. John Sexton was late. They were not worried, he had a reputation for Maverick behaviour, and in the rarefied circles of High Finance, being a tad late for meetings got you tagged as eccentric; transgress more than once, and you were a Maverick.
