Rather than go to the police station, Nobby phoned and briefed Jo Jums on what they had found and said they wanted to probe further, to meet with Alice’s Uncle Kipper, and the cousin who ran the harbour tour boats. Jo was preoccupied, the imminent press briefing, and she told them they were in the middle of an incident with Jack, and provided they stuck to looking for information, she told them to, “Go to it”.
They did, and relished the prospect. Only Alice thought how it would be when she couldn’t do this, later on into her confinement and the first six months or so with the baby. She decided to adopt Jack’s Church of Egypt, but knew she would have to talk this through with Nobby, and soon. Knew also he would dread the conversation. She looked across to him and he was oblivious
