TWENTY-ONE Alice had crept to the perimeter of the warehouse and peered through the c***k in the main sliding doors. She saw a pair of dogs hoisted and being shown to the crowd, a crescendo of shouting and arguing ensued. The wind had dropped and the rain just misting, but even so it caused dribbles to run down her face, mixing with sweat from nerves and the night time warmth. She tried to ease the door. Too heavy.
