Chapter 1
The moon cast a soft glow over the forest clearing where Odin and Dawn sat; it was a peaceful and quiet night, the leaves rustling gently in the breeze. They'd spent hours talking about everything from their shared childhood memories. As the conversation lulled, Odin nervously cleared his throat and shifted on the fallen log where they were seated.
"Dawn," he began, his eyes fixed on her with a mixture of hope and anxiety, "I've been thinking about something, and I wanted to ask you."
Dawn met his gaze, and her heart quickened. "What is it, Odin?" she curiously asked.
He took a deep breath. His strong, calloused hands took hold of her hands. "You are my best friend." He chuckled, the wind blew behind Dawn, sending her warm pineapple scent towards him. She smelled better than any of the other female werewolves in their pack. He could feel his wolf agreeing with his choices inside him. "But I've grown more fond of you than I could have imagined." Dawn blushed as he continued. "I think of you as more than a friend. And I think you feel the same way too." He squeezed her hand in his gently, a bit restless but confident.
Dawn smiled. Yes, they had been childhood friends, but they were no longer children, and their admiration for one another had blossomed into attraction. She could tell he also felt the same. They had been getting quite close and making obvious gestures. It was about time for this.
"Dawn, I've been thinking, would you like to go on a date with me?" He said boldly. "As more than friends." He fidgeted with her hands. "Just you and me. No pack politics, no responsibilities, just a night for us to be, well, us."
Dawn's eyes widened, her face breaking into a delighted smile. "You mean like a real date?"
Odin chuckled, relieved by her positive response. "Yeah, exactly. A real date."
Dawn's smile grew wider. "It's a little hard to forget about pack politics with the alpha son," she giggled, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "But I'd love that, Odin. I've been waiting for this for so long."
Relief washed over him, and he returned her smile with a warm one of his own. "Great. How about tomorrow night? I'll pick you up, and I have somewhere we can go. It will be a special place for us."
Dawn's heart fluttered at the thought of a romantic evening with Odin. "Tomorrow night sounds perfect. I'll be waiting."

The next evening, Odin, dressed in his finest attire, stood anxiously at Dawn's doorstep. He wore a black jacket over his white T-shirt, along with neatly pressed trousers and his finest shoes. He took a deep breath, his knuckles gently rapping against the door. But before he could, the door swung open, revealing an old lady, Dawn's grandmother, Madam Carla.
“Hello, Odin,” Dawn’s grandmother greeted Odin with a warm smile. She had always liked him and was delighted that he and her granddaughter were starting something special. She looked at him with an excited smile, like she was just waiting for him to announce Dawn as his mate.
“Hello, Miss Carla,” Odin said, returning the warm smile. He was fond of Carla too. She was the best healer in town, so he got to see her often while she was out and about caring for others. He met Dawn through her, and they became close friends since childhood.
“Dawn's upstairs, she’s almost ready.” She opened the door wider, welcoming Odin. “Why don’t you come inside?”
Odin accepted the offer, nodding and stepping in. The house was just the same as he last saw it two weeks ago. It barely changed over the years as well. Carla didn’t like change at all, not since her daughter died.
Dawn's mother had died of an illness when Dawn was still very young. Her father went missing shortly after. She had been living with her grandmother ever since.
“I’m ready,” Dawn's voice echoed down the stairs as she followed. She was in a lovely dress that accentuated her beauty. It was a red wrap dress that clung to her waist and black flats on her feet.
Dawn's eyes lit up with delight as she saw Odin. "You look amazing," she said with a warm smile.
Odin couldn't help but return the compliment. "You look absolutely stunning, Dawn." He extended his arm, ready for their night out. "Shall we?"
She linked her arm with his, and they greeted her grandmother goodbye.
“Come back before ten,” Carla reminded them.
They nodded in agreement and stepped out into the cool night. As they walked, Dawn couldn't help but ask, "So, how did you manage to sneak out of your house, Odin? I hope your dad won't be too angry with you for disappearing."
Odin chuckled and squeezed her arm gently. "He will probably be too busy with his duties to realize I’m not in my room. He’s been even busier than usual nowadays.” Odin tried to hide his sad expression. ”But I left a note, in case he’s looking for me. I left a note."
Dawn laughed, her voice carrying the melody of the forest around them. "You left a note? You're always responsible, even when sneaking out for a date."
They continued their walk, the moonlight bathing them. Odin was determined to make it a memorable evening.
The night was still and serene as Odin and Dawn arrived at their destination, a hidden gem known only to a few within the pack. A pristine lake, its surface glistened with the reflection of the moon and stars. The two friends walked hand in hand, the moonlight guiding their way.
The sight of the lake took Dawn's breath away. "Odin, it's beautiful," she whispered, her eyes shimmering with appreciation.
Odin smiled at her. "I thought you'd like it. I just found it recently, and I wanted to share it with you."
They found a grassy spot by the water's edge, and Odin spread a blanket. From behind a rock, he produced a small picnic basket filled with their favorite treats and a bottle of wine that he had hidden there earlier. As they enjoyed the meal, they talked, laughed, and shared stories as the night deepened.
Dawn's laughter echoed through the woods as she shared a funny childhood memory. Odin couldn't help but be captivated by her smile and the genuine warmth in her eyes.
The evening wore on, and as they finished their meal, Odin got up first and extended his hand to Dawn. "Would you like to take a walk by the lake?"
Dawn nodded, and they strolled along the water's edge, their hands brushing occasionally. The gentle ripple of the lake's water soothed the mood.
Odin stopped by the water's edge, pulling Dawn to stop as well. Dawn drew closer, their fingers entwined. The lake’s water captured the perfect moment in its glittering reflection.
As the night's magic enveloped them, Odin turned to Dawn, his eyes locked onto hers. "Dawn," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the night's embrace, "there's something I've wanted to do for a very long time."
Dawn's heart quickened as she met his gaze. "What is it, Odin?"
In the soft moonlight, Odin leaned in, almost grazing her lips. Their lips met in a tender and sweet kiss. Time seemed to stand still as they held each other close, their hearts beating fast in contrast to the calm, cool night.
The kiss deepened, and the enchanting night sealed their connection in a moment filled with magic and promise.
