“Want to eat with me in the cafeteria?” Josh asked as we walked off the floor of the ER. I was torn. It would be so much easier to text Michael and tell him I couldn’t make it for lunch. Josh was safe, a good distraction from the crazy world of the ER. But, a promise was a promise and I would not let Michael down. “I wish I could, but I’ve already got plans.” I slung my backpack over my shoulder and hurried out before Josh could try to persuade me otherwise.
