Alyssa’s life has always been normal until she steps into the forest.

Drawn to a remote cabin to escape the chaos of the world, Alyssa never expected her peaceful retreat to unravel her entire existence. When she meets Victor, the brooding Alpha of a powerful Lycan pack, she’s thrust into a world of danger, dark secrets, and undeniable attraction.

Victor warns her that she’s tied to a bloodline far older and more dangerous than she could have ever imagined. But Alyssa isn’t ready to embrace her fate. She’s human, or at least she thought she was, and the world of Lycans seems far beyond her grasp. The connection between her and Victor is undeniable, and yet, terrifying. With every encounter, the pull between them grows stronger—one that could either save them both… or destroy everything they hold dear.

As rival packs close in and the curse that binds them tightens, Alyssa faces an impossible choice: break the curse and lose Victor or embrace her fate and step into a world that could cost her everything.

Love, power, destiny, Alyssa’s heart and the future of the Lycan world rest in the balance. Can their love survive the curse, or will it tear them apart?

Chapter 1: The Meeting
Alyssa had never really believed in fate. She liked to keep her feet firmly planted in the real world, in the things that made sense. The routine of daily life, the stability of her job, her quiet weekends away. So when a stranger appeared in the woods, tall and intense, with eyes that seemed to see right through her, she didn’t know what to think. She had come here for peace, a simple afternoon walk through the trails near her family’s cabin. The kind of day where nothing happened except the soft rustling of leaves and the distant sound of birds. And yet, there he was. He didn’t speak at first, just stood there, half-hidden in the trees. He was a lot taller than most men, with broad shoulders that made him look like he could carry the weight of the world. His leather jacket looked worn, like it had seen its fair share of struggles, and his hair fell just long enough to brush against his collar. His jaw was sharp, the lines on his face telling stories of a life lived in harsh conditions. Alyssa felt her heart skip a beat. She wasn’t sure what to do. The woods were supposed to be peaceful, but this man seemed out of place. He wasn’t someone who should be here. She took a slow step back, her mind racing. Was he a hiker? A local? A threat? “You shouldn’t be out here alone,” he said, his voice rough but steady. It wasn’t a question, just a fact. And it felt like a warning. Alyssa’s pulse quickened. She wasn’t used to this, to being caught off guard like this. But she wasn’t going to let him see how rattled she was. She straightened up and tried to sound casual, even though her voice trembled a little. “I’m fine,” she said. “Just out for a walk.” It was a half-truth. She had come to the cabin to get away from her busy life, to find some peace and quiet. But something about the way the air felt, the way the trees seemed to bend in on her, made her second-guess everything. The tension in the atmosphere felt different. Like something was wrong. The man didn’t move at first, but his eyes never left her. They were intense, almost too intense. There was something about them that made her feel like he could see straight through to her core. Her defenses were up, but there was no denying the unease that crawled up her spine. “You’re not from around here, are you?” he asked. His tone wasn’t accusatory, just observant. Her mind raced. Was he trying to intimidate her? Her instincts told her to leave, but something held her in place. She shook her head, trying to focus. “No,” she replied, trying to sound calm. “I’m visiting family.” It wasn’t a complete lie. She had ties to this place, but no one knew she came out here alone. Her family had always been here, had always owned the land, but the cabin was her retreat. She liked the solitude. She needed it. The man didn’t say anything right away. Instead, he seemed to be studying her, his gaze unwavering. “Be careful,” he said after a moment. “This place isn’t what it seems.” Alyssa felt a chill run down her spine. Was he talking about the woods? Or something else? “Careful from what?” she asked, trying to push back against the fear creeping into her voice. He turned his head slightly, his eyes scanning the trees as if he was looking for something. Or someone. She wasn’t sure. “From things that don’t belong here,” he said, his voice lower now, almost like he was speaking to himself more than to her. Alyssa felt a knot tighten in her stomach. His words were strange, but it was the way he said them that sent an uncomfortable shiver through her. It felt like a warning, but it didn’t make sense. This was her home. She’d been coming here for years, and nothing out of the ordinary had ever happened. She wanted to ask more questions, to press him for answers, but something in his stance stopped her. He wasn’t backing down. He wasn’t leaving. It was as if the woods themselves had become quieter, as if they were listening in. “I should get going,” she said, her voice firmer now, more determined. She turned, hoping to leave without more conversation. But the man spoke again, his voice low and deliberate. “You won’t be able to run from this,” he said, just loud enough for her to hear. Alyssa froze. She didn’t turn around. She didn’t want to. Something in his words stuck with her, heavy and unsettling. She wasn’t sure if it was the weight of the moment or the fact that she was standing there alone, deep in the woods, with a man who knew things she didn’t. She didn’t look back. She just kept walking, faster now, her heart beating in her ears. The path ahead seemed clearer, but it was as if the woods themselves were pulling her toward something. Toward him. The whole way back to the cabin, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being followed. Every rustle of the trees, every creak of the branches, made her feel like she wasn’t alone. But when she turned around, there was nothing. Just the forest, standing still, waiting. When she reached the cabin, she slammed the door behind her and leaned against it, taking a deep breath. Her pulse was still racing. She needed to calm down, to push the unsettling encounter from her mind. Her phone buzzed from the kitchen counter. She glanced at it, wondering if it was Lena, asking about the hike, or maybe her mom. But it wasn’t. It was a text from an unknown number. Alyssa picked it up, her fingers trembling slightly as she read the message: "Stay out of the woods. Don't ignore what you felt." Her stomach dropped. She stared at the screen, trying to understand. It didn’t make sense. But something in her gut told her this wasn’t a coincidence. This was only the beginning.
