Chapter 7: Waiting Neil There wasn’t a whole lot Neil—or vamps in general—could do to create a romantic atmosphere. Or maybe that was just Neil’s inexperience or lack of imagination, because in the past when he’d thought about romance, his ideas had centered around things like candlelight dinners. But now they didn’t have “dinner” in the same sense as when he’d been human, and candles that added a scent would not be appealing in a closed space—and “unscented” put off an odor vamps could detect, and it wasn’t particularly appealing.
