The rest of the Alpha team chased Boaz, but he was too fast for them. Luckily for Boaz, he jumped from the high mountain into the ocean. The wolves chasing him halted. They watched if they would see any trace of him, but they didn't, so they turned around, and left. Boaz who had been underwater brought up his head, wiped his face, and got rid of the water falling from his head.
Boaz had ordered the guards to kill Dylan, and Dylan was hopeless. Soon enough, Figo came back to rescue him, and he was glad he would make it alive. As they exited the secret chamber; some doctors head ripped off, the guards were all covered in blood. Dylan looked at the dead bodies. "You did a great job." Dylan said.
"Thank you Boss." Figo replied.
"Let's get out of here before Boaz comes."
"Alright."
As they ran off, Dylan asked. "What's the state of things?"
"The beast from eight years ago showed up." Figo said.
"Where is it?"
"Busy killing vampires. Good and bad."
Griffin and Vanessa stared at each other. Each one waiting for the other to strike first. When Griffin looked towards where Jarek was she found that time to strike. She charged towards Griffin, catching his back with her teeth, it was easier to push Vanessa away. Vanessa looked at Jarek, and Jarek stared at Vanessa, and thought everything happening was all a dream.
"Run." Vanessa mind-talked with Jarek.
Jarek could hear his mother speak to him without saying a word. He was confused at how that was possible, he didn't answer at first, saying. "Mom?"
"Run!" Vanessa said again, and Jarek started walking hastily - He had lost a lot of blood, and would lose more if not attended to.
Griffin wanted to run after Jarek, but Vanessa stopped him again, and the fight continued.
Alde had almost ended the entire vampire clan, and the remaining started retreating. Alde calmed down as he took up the scent of Jarek, and Vanessa. "Jarek? Van?" He thought.
At this moment, Hugo wanted to go after Alde, but Karen stopped him. "Don't be reckless."
Hugo stared at Karen, then at Alde who was not even trying to run, but he saw him sniffing his nose. Suddenly, Alde ran towards Vanessa and Jarek.
Griffin had won the fight, and now, it was time to finish her off. He used his sharp claw to tear Vanessa's skin deep, and used his teeth to grab her neck. She felt so helpless, and admitted defeat. All this time, Jarek was watching, he didn't know what to do, and he was losing consciousness.
Alde arrived late, Vanessa would be dead in a few minutes. Alde eyes met with Griffin. Vanessa turned back to human, cold. Alde walked over to her body, he hoped it wasn't Vanessa, but this time, luck did not find him. He became bitter, he remembered the times she had expected him to respond to her feelings - He wanted to after today, but now, she was gone, never to be seen again.
Bitterness grew in Alde's heart, and anger is not too far away
from bitterness. He tried picking up the scent of Jarek, but fearfully and unconsciously Jarek had turned off his humanity.
Little kids who were switchers can't shift if they don't know who they are. Vanessa never told Jarek about her being a werewolf because she thought it would be best if he lived his life like a normal human being. Vanessa had always wanted a normal life, but the earth was not so generous. Then, she met with Alde, and her strong will to make sure any child she gave birth to must live as human being. Karen's subordinate explained to her about Alde's predicaments, and gave her guidelines in which she would follow. Damn her heart, she fell in love with Alde, and they had a son, and named him Jarek.
The dark clouds covered the moon, and Alde became human again. Griffin had the chance to attack and finish off the beast, but what shocked him was the fact that, Alde is the beast - Alde his best friend whom he thought had died. Griffin turned also became human, and Alde wasted no time in asking.
"Why did you kill my wife?"
"Your wife? Your wife is a wolf?"
Alde couldn't suppress his anger, he prefers to ask questions than answer. "Why did you kill my wife?!" He asked again.
"He tried protecting a small boy. She claimed that he was her son."
"Jarek? Why did you want to kill Jarek?"
"A vampire bit him." Griffin responded. "A bad vampire." Griffin emphasized on the word 'bad'.
"Where is he?"
"I don't know."
Where is my child?!" Alde shouted, and at this time the moon became visible again, and he turned back into his beast form.
Griffin turned into a werewolf too he was very fearful, and he hoped his team was here right now. Jarek watched from a distance, but his vision was getting blurry. Still, he recognised his father's voice. He watched his father turn into a Lycan, and he whispered, "In the name of the heavens, what is happening tonight?" He asked himself.
Shock gripped him as he saw a woman coming towards him. Karen came closer to Jarek, carried him on one of her subordinates back, and ran off. But, before that, she asked of Cassy's whereabouts, and told her a wolf carried her away - He sounded terrified, but Karen wasn't.
Karen watched Griffin and Alde fight. Soon enough Griffin's team joined in fighting off Alde. Alde killed two of Griffin's team members, but he wasn't satisfied, he wanted to kill Griffin himself.
When all the remaining vampires retreated, Hugo, Kyla, and Edward followed Alde's footstep, and it led them to the fight between Griffin and Alde. Alde had killed the remaining two, leaving Griffin after he had injured his neck. They saw Griffin fighting to live. Griffin turned human, he was soaked in blood, gasping for air. Hugo shifted into human, and ran towards Griffin, he took his head, and placed it on his thighs.
"Where is Dylan?" Hugo asked.
"Dylan can't do anything about it. His blood can only save humans and his own kind, not werewolves." Edward said.
"Who did this to you?" Hugo asked.
"The be-a-st."
"The beast?"
"Ye-s, t-he be-a-st. He tur-ned hu-ma-n." Griffin struggled to talk as he was dying.
"Who is he?" Hugo asked.
"T-he be-a-st i---s."
As he was about to finish, Karen used her powers to snap his neck, and he died. No one noticed this except Kyla. Kyla looked around to check for Karen, but it was dark - Now, she was very sure, the beast was Alde.
Alde had carried Vanessa's body away. He regretted not telling her how he felt. He was still in love with Karen, so he couldn't say those words Vanessa wanted to hear. But as she carried her away it seemed life gave her five seconds to say her last words, and she wasted no time in saying it. "Alde, be a good man." She said, and took her final breath.
He cried silently in pain, holding back the scream that might lead him to his grave.
They placed Jarek on a bed in one of the rooms. Karen tried stopping the bleeding, but Jarek was getting colder.
"The bite was quite deep." Karen said.
"Yes, it is."
After stopping the bleeding, it didn't stop Jarek from getting colder. His face was pale, lips dry, and body almost grey.
The Omega had dropped off Cassy at home. She woke up when she heard the voice of her mother. Cassy looked at Jarek's face, and he pitied him. They shouldn't have taken a walk, even if they had, they shouldn't have stayed till late in the evening, they shouldn't have gone into the forest. She had believed in Jarek's words, now look where it landed them. She pressed her fingers on her temple.
"He is going to die," Karen said, and Cassy who had been blaming herself all this while looked up to her mother who was beside her.
"What if he doesn't?" Cassy, Karen's daughter asked.
"That means it is either the start of something special, or the end of something lovely for him..." Karen responded.
Cassy didn't know when she started crying. Karen saw her daughter cry, she patted Cassy's back, making her cry even more. Jarek's body got colder, Cassy couldn't watch, so she went back inside. Shortly, Karen received a call, it was from Alde, and at the same time, she received a text message from Hugo.
Alde had sent Karen his current location. Karen took her car to where Alde said he would be. Karen saw Alde with Vanessa in his arms. He had wept countless of times, and Karen pitied him.
"Hey." Karen whispered.
Alde didn't respond immediately, and Karen noticed he didn't have the strength to utter any word - his wife was dead, and to his knowledge his son was missing.
Kyla was close to where they were. Kyla went downtown to get something at Potatoes and Chips. Luckily, Karen sighted Kyla first, and she hurriedly pulled Alde up, and carried Karen as Kyla slowly turned her eyes towards them. She saw what looked like Karen, she wasn't sure, so she decided to see for herself and she ran towards where Karen and Alde went.
