CHAPTER TWENTY THREE: WHERE IS MY MOM?

1597 Words
Kyla followed Karen and Alde. She was about entering the other curve Karen and Alde had taken when she received a call - it was from Hugo. She stopped, halted, and turned around, entered her car and zoomed off. Karen and Alde were relieved she wasn't following them again. Karen stared at Vanessa's body which had turned cold. "What do you want to do with her?" Karen asked. "I don't know. Take her home and give her a befitting burial." "She was a werewolf." "I didn't have a glimpse of thought that she was one." "She is a switcher. So you can't know unless she tells you." "I didn't even tell her how much I care for her." Alde wanted to burst into another round of tears, but he held it in. He did not want to sound like a sucker in front of Karen. Karen, noticing that he would start shedding tears anytime from now on, instructed him to go home. "I will clear all the CCTV footage here. Do not be bothered about getting caught." "Thank you Karen." "Don't mention it." As they departed, Alde turned around. "Don't you dare erase my memory." Karen smiled. "I will try not to." Cassy sneaked out of her room, and went to Jarek's room. He was still cold, and she was still hurt, and feeling regretful. "I'm sorry." She begged. She touched his body, his coldness is more than ice, at this rate his organs would have been frozen, and Cassy's thoughts were. "Will he become a vampire?" Or "Is he going to die before sunrise?" Thoughts overloaded with another and soon enough tears found a way out again and once again she begged, "I'm sorry." She felt his face as she wept profusely. Her thoughts mingled with the sad scene that had happened and she broke down in tears, louder than before and that called out some of Karen's subordinates. "Hey Cassy." "Leave me alone and get out." She used her command tone and the subordinate obeyed her. Hugo placed a call to the remaining four in the council. Everybody was there except Karen. "Where is Three?" Hugo asked. Kyla wanted to tell him what she saw, but she decided not to. "I don't know." They all responded. Shortly, Karen entered. "Sorry, I am late." Karen pleaded. "Sit." Hugo gestured to her to take her seat beside Dylan. Kyla watched Karen as she took her seat. "Today is a day of sorrow for the supernatural beings in Askarvard. The Alpha and his team are all dead. The beast and Boaz are still on the run. They have not been caught. Humans are not aware of this, but there have been alarming cases about kidnappings happening in Askarvard. What the f**k are we doing!" Hugo made sure his voice was heard and silence ruled over them and they waited for Hugo to continue talking, and yes, he did. "This is overwhelming. I can't stand this. We must find the beast, and we must find Boaz." Hugo said and they silently agreed. Kyla wanted to tell Hugo about Karen and Alde, but still she couldn't find herself to do that. Kyla loved Alde. Kyla and Alde had been friends for quite a while. Kyla knew Alde through Griffin. Griffin knew about Kyla liking Alde, but he did not want to interfere between both of them so he said nothing to Alde. During the Christmas period, Kyla wanted to tell Alde how she felt about him. DECEMBER 24, 2012 11:00PM Kyla was busy making preparations for Christmas even though she did not believe in God, but her Mom forced her to make some food for her guest. The house was full, and Kyla was tremendously busy. She had planned to ask Alde out tonight, but her Mom received some unexpected important guests. She hurriedly tried to finish off the remaining things to do and zoom off to where Alde was. 11:20PM nothing has changed, her mother always sees something to send her. Sometimes she got angry, but then she found a way to finish the task. She called out to one of her mother's subordinates to help her with the task, and in return would give her 100 dollars. The subordinate agreed immediately, and she zoomed off. "Tell Mom I'm sick and I'm in bed!" Kyla made sure someone was in her room to fill in for her. "Why didn't I think about this since?" She thought, entering the room to freshen up. At 11:50 PM she left her house. She knew where Alde would be, so she went there directly. She saw Griffin and the rest playing cards, but Alde was missing. "Where is Alde?" Kyla asked. Griffin looked up and their eyes met. "He went towards this side." Griffin pointed to where Alde had followed Karen. "Did he tell you where he was going?" Kyla asked. "He saw a beautiful girl, and he followed her." The girl who had told Alde about Karen's departure spoke out and got a jab from Griffin. "What!?" She shouted at Griffin. Kyla looked through the crowds, hoping Alde would show up alone. Yes, he showed up, but with Karen - They were holding hands and laughing carelessly. Kyla resented Karen since then and would forever do. "Do you have something to say to me?" Karen asked Kyla who has been staring at her for quite a while. "No, nothing at all." Kyla responded, shifting her eyes away from Karen to Hugo. "What's the plan?" Kyla asked. "We will go home tonight and think about what you can do as an individual. Let's hope the solution comes before tomorrow." Hugo declared. "I ain't going nowhere. Boaz wants my head.* Dylan said. "You can stay with me then. I'm not going home tonight." Hugo said. "Me too. I'm human, it would be easier to get my head." Edward explained his plight. "Alright." Hugo answered. "Goodnight." Kyla and Karen both said at the same time. "Goodnight." Hugo and the remaining two bade the ladies goodbye. Kyla and Karen got out. The air was thick and they could both feel it. "It is Alde." Kyla jumped right into what she wanted to discuss with Karen. "What do you mean?" Karen tried to play along. "The beast… it is Alde." Kyla said again. "How sure are you?" "Don't test me Karen." "You, just tell me." "This would be a very long talk if we start. Let's keep it for another time." Kyla said, entering her car and leaving. Before Karen entered her car, she sent a message to Dylan to see her tomorrow morning. Dylan received the message immediately Karen hit the send button. At first, Dylan had thought the message was from Boaz, but he was relieved that it was from Karen, but he was curious as to why Karen asked him to come over - He couldn't wait for the day to break. Karen entered, she didn't see Cassy in her room. She went to where she had put Jarek, she found Cassy asleep, sitting on the floor beside Jarek's bedside. She removed her hands from Jarek's and carried her back to her room. She tucked her in perfectly, covering her body except her head with a coverlet - She planted a kiss on her head, turned off the lights, and exited her room. On a Sunday morning, the sun rose earlier than usual, and the day already kick-started and everyone was busy doing their things. The dead bodies had been transferred to the morgue. Hugo did not know how to break it to everyone that the Alpha and his team were all dead, even though they all knew the Alpha is dead, but a proper speech from Hugo can keep everyone at peace.  Dylan is still curious as to why Karen called him yesterday. 10minutes to when Karen asked him to come, he called her, and she picked up. "Morning Dylan" "Morning Karen." "You said I should see you this morning, I'm coming over now." "Alright thanks." Alde called Karen almost immediately, and she picked up again, it was Alde. "Alde." "Hi. How can I find my son?" "It will be out in the news soon." "Okay thanks." He hung up. Shortly afterwards, Dylan knocked on the door - saw that it had a doorbell, he decided to ring the bell. "Ding Dong." One of Karen's subordinates let him in and they both greeted themselves respectfully. Cassy had woken up, and she was surprised she woke up on her bed instead of Jarek's bedside. Karen saw Dylan and called out to him. Immediately, Karen led Dylan to where Jarek was laid and Cassy followed. "A vampire bite him." Karen said. "A vampire? How?" Dylan asked. "He was in the warzone and Boaz got him and bit him." Karen explained. Dylan looked at Jarek's eyes, pointing something that flashes light into his eyes. He felt his pulse and temperature. "Are you sure he got bitten?" Dylan asked, looking confused. "Yes." Karen replied. Dylan checked Jarek's pulse on his neck. "He is not bitten" Dylan said assuring Karen that everything is alright. "I saw it with my own eyes. His body was very cold, and turning grey." "But, now his pulses and temperature are all normal. He will be considered as a human. I can't even sense anything supernatural about him." Karen called for her subordinate that carried Jarek here. They both gave Dylan the same answer Karen had given. As they were talking, Jarek woke up, and his first words were. "Where is my Mom?"
