Kyla was already in her car, replaying what Vanessa's answer was. "This is not right." She thought.
Vanessa had told her that Alde was at home throughout the night. She gave her every detail of how the evening went - from the meal, to Alde strolling out for a while, to him coming back before the roar, she explained everything in detail, and Kyla was slightly convinced that Vanessa was telling the truth. "Who could it be, if not Alde?" She thought, and zoomed off.
Lukas was still in self doubt about the conversation he inevitably heard. "Curiosity is really making me go insane." He thought.
He was making good use of his time, but he wasn't aware of what he was doing. He patiently waited for Alde to come into the office, and break the news to him, saying, "It was just a friend, we had an issue concerning some story that needs to be published about supernatural beings, and the lady's organisation wants to take the glory. So, I decided to fix myself as the main character, and she utterly declined." This was what Lukas hoped he'd tell him, until Alde entered, and his mind just went completely blank. He wasn't ready for an answer that would break his heart. "Why should I bother asking him about the conversation he had with the scarface girl?" He asked himself.
Alde went over to his seat. He sighed, and stroked the keyboards, typing something on the screen. Lukas was caught stealing glances at what Alde was doing.
"What's wrong with you?" Alde asked.
"Nothing." Lukas responded facing the monitor in front of him.
"If you want to take a look, why don't you come? It is not that you needed my explanation."
Lukas stared at him, the pause… Lukas rolled his chair to Alde's side, staring at his monitor. "What are you doing?" He asked.
"Askarvard Magazines anniversary is coming up soon." Alde responded.
"Oh yes, that's true."
"What do you intend on doing? The editing team would take care of anything you are thinking about right now." Lukas reminded him.
"I know. But, for the success of this year's anniversary we need to give it our best."
"Yeah! Yeah!! Perfectionist Alde."
"Stop teasing and get back to work."
"Okay sir." He replied, and Alde smirked.
Alde received a call. His phone buzzed - his phone being on the table it gave a sound that allowed almost everyone to hear. Lukas looked at Alde, and Alde stared back when he noticed Lukas was looking.
"It is my wife." He said. He said those words as if he is entitled to tell Lukas everything that goes on with him.
"Go pick it up." Lukas replied.
Alde stood up gently, picked the call, and went out. Lukas wanted to follow silently, but he knew curiosity had a limit, so he stayed glued to his seat without looking at Alde who had already left the office vicinity.
"Hey Babe."
"Vanessa."
"Can't you give me a romantic name?"
"I will think about that after work today."
"Alright."
"Why do you call?"
"You should know why I called."
"Can you tell me?"
"The woman that talked through your phone, asking me a series of questions. Who is she?"
The pause. "That's Kyla, the fourth in The Pentagon."
"The fourth?"
"Yes, the fourth."
"Why did she ask me all those questions?"
"She sees me as a suspect."
"Suspect?"
"Yes, I will explain it to you later when I am back at home. I have tons of work to do right now."
"Alright Babe."
"Yeah Bye."
Vanessa was busy preparing a customer's order. Vanessa is an entrepreneur, she cooks... alone - hiring other cooks to make work easier for her. She is the best cook in Askarvard, to some point. She specialises mainly on pizza.
"Yes! I'm coming!" Vanessa screamed on top of her voice. "Hey take table5's order and table 8. Place a bottle of water on table 13, and collect the plates on 1." Vanessa instructed.
"Okay Ma."
"Never thought I'd be busy like this today." She said to herself.
It was break time, and most of the students were in the cafeteria, fulfilling the lust in their stomach. Jarek munched some hot buns, and drank the peppermint drink on the table. He noticed something was off, and he recognised it immediately.
"Where is Sasha?" He asked Angelo, Cassy, and Max who were on the table with him.
"I don't know." Angelo answered, and they gestured negatively, telling him they didn't know her whereabouts.
Sasha and Zed were on the top floor in the school - the most deserted area; an area where weak kids are bullied, and no one would hear their screams. Sasha and Zed stared at each other as the breeze slowly pierced their skins. They can't feel the cold, so they weren't bothered.
"What did my mother ask you?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"Because it concerns me."
"No, I can assure you, it doesn't."
"It concerns my friend."
"Who? Jarek? Angelo? Or the new girl."
"Angelo."
"What about him?"
"I want to know what my mother asked you concerning him."
"Oh when he shifted. What type of wolf did he shift to?"
Sasha watched as he talked. "Yes, tell me everything."
"I told your mother he is a white wolf."
"What!?" Sasha grabbed him by his shirt."
"Calm down pretty lady."
"Why did you? After what I told you. I even begged you!"
"Sorry, no hard feelings, but I don't tell lies."
"Damn you Zed."
Zed laughed at this, arranging his rumpled shirt. "You really believed me, didn't you?"
Sasha stared at Zed in disbelief. "What do you want me to believe?"
Zed laughed at this again, and it irritated Sasha. "Answer me before they ring the bell."
"I didn't tell her the truth. I said he was brown. Normal like every other person."
"You did?"
"Yup."
"Hope you are not playing me."
"Ask your mother."
Sasha took Zed by surprise as she hugged him. "Thank you Zed."
Zed was speechless, and didn't know what to say or do. The best thing was to keep calm, and keep quiet, but this time, words didn't fail him. "You ought to be thankful, so it is alright."
Sasha playfully beats Zed's chest. "What was that for!?" Zed said as he laughed.
"I am sure Jarek would have been waiting for us."
"Okay, let's go."
They set to leave, Sasha opened the door, and went inside, and Zed followed.
"Why is it that you guys all like Jarek? He is just a human."
"He took you on in a fair fight, and he won."
"I didn't want to injure him!"
"That's what you will always say."
"Stop it Sasha."
Sasha and Zed joined Jarek and the rest in the cafeteria. Jarek stared at Zed suspiciously. "What is going on here?" Jarek asked nobody, but was desperate for an answer from Sasha.
"Hey teammate and classmates." Zed greeted, jokingly.
"Teammate? Classmates? What has gone into you?" Jarek asked.
"I have turned a new leaf here."
"A new leaf?"
Zed walked over to where Angelo was sitting. He wrapped his arm around Angelo. "We are good now." Zed said, and Jarek stared at Angelo - he needed some explanation.
"I deserve some explanations here." Jarek finally said.
"You will find out very soon." Sasha assured him..
Jarek turned to Cassy who had been silent all this while. "You know about this too?" Jarek asked.
"I don't." Cassy replied.
Dylan was watching TV in his office. He wasn't concentrating on what was showing on the TV. His problem had been about the roar that sounded yesterday. Even the humans living in Askarvard trembled when they heard that sound. He was troubled that the beast would come for his kind, and maybe wipe them out completely. He hoped his greatest fear didn't come to pass, because his kind are no more than fifty right now - he can't possibly endure another painful loss. His phone beeped, it was a message from Boaz, and it read, "Hey Dylan, in case Figo didn't relay my message. Come over to 77, there is something you need to see. It will wow you."
After reading the message, Figo knocked on the door, and entered. "I have a message for you Boss. It is from Boaz."
"Nothing good comes from Boaz, nothing good comes from Boaz." He continually said, slamming the table. Even Figo knows nothing good comes from Boaz.
"Prepare the car." Dylan ordered.
"Okay Boss." Figo replied, exiting the office.
Commodore 77 was empty as usual. Dylan walked past the guards, entered the inner room. He checked through, and saw a sticker on a bottle of Hennessy on the table. Figo removed the sticker and read the contents to Dylan who looked a little bit angry.
"Hey Dylan, come to the loneliest route after Sharia Tanna. My guards will take you there."
Dylan nodded his head. "I know Boaz's name only speaks of trouble, and trouble alone." He whispered. "Let's go." He told Figo, and they both left Commodore 77, left their car behind as they entered the van containing six guards, and the driver, making seven.
