CHAPTER TWENTY
Basket our thoughts to the ever glory of eternity -- of immortality. Dylan managed to tell Figo to make sure he loosened the belt tied to his body without the doctors knowing. It had been four days, and three hours that they had been tied up. To everyone's surprise, there was no killing whatsover. Alde had a tremendous amount of power as a human not to turn into a Lycan, but it couldn't be avoided on a full moon, which was that day. Dylan always asked Boaz anytime he saw him. "How is Askarvard?" And Boaz's response was always, "Askarvard is peaceful." Even though Dylan did not believe him, he hoped Askarvard had been truly peaceful.
Kyla suspected Alde was gradually wearing off as she had put a close tab on Alde, and his movements especially in the night. But, Alde was always at home with his family. Jarek was still troubled because of the sudden act put on by Zed. Angelo became quieter than Max, and everyone noticed and only Sasha and Zed knew why. Sasha on the other hand had been imploring Zed not to tell her parents or anyone about Angelo being a whitewolf. Cassy started her fine-arts classes after getting over the trauma she found herself in, in her previous school. Max was always worried about his father, he had been going out every night - He knew the nature of his dad's job, but since when they had given birth to him, his dad had always been with him; Now it looked uncomfortable for Max when his dad leaves in the evening, and comes back in the morning.
The doctors paced back and forth, looking through the binoculars, and watching samples on a mini TV. They pick up the research papers, and write down things Dylan and Figo did not know, but they were very sure it was about them, and the study of Boaz, and his army become a daywalker. Dylan watched them, and he pitied them.
"They are fighting a lost battle, and they are not aware of this." Dylan said silently.
Kyla rushed into The Pentagon. Hugo asked one of the servants to give him a book from the main library. Hugo watched Kyla as she entered. Before the greetings, Hugo had shot her some positive words, but to Kyla, it was not.
"This is the sixth day, and Askarvard is still peaceful."
Kyla halted few metres to Hugo. "Yes, I know. But, you counted the days from when we all heard the roar, and the roar might have been made by some wolves playing around."
"Don't play with my intelligence, Kyla. We all know the sound we heard eight years ago."
"And if you still remember, we didn't see the beast, talkless of killing."
"A witness said the beast was a Lycan."
"Yes, we all heard that. But, why did the bea-- I mean Lycan stopped killing. The Lycan was on a killing spree for over two days, and it seemed unstoppable, thank goodness it wasn't a full moon, none would be alive by now."
"I'm aware of that. But, what baffles me, and same as you is the roar we heard, was it fake? Or the Lycan trying to mark the territory, it is going to attack or it is coming for us?"
"Why are you overthinking things, One?"
"I'm not. It is just your dream… It didn't come to pass this time."
"My dreams don't lie, One."
"Then, why is nothing happening?"
"I don't know. Maybe it wants to catch us by surprise. The prime suspect is not showing any signs of changing or making preparations to change, and attack."
Hugo and Kyla stopped talking, and the room went from noisy, to total silence. Kyla was breathing heavily as if she had fought with Hugo in his wolf form.
"What next?" Hugo asked.
"I don't know, One." Kyla answered, turning around to leave, but she remembered something, and turned right back. "I haven't seen Dylan and Figo for some days now."
Hugo paused for some seconds before answering. "Maybe he has been busy with some stuffs. After your dream and the roar, and nothing has been happening, he found some important things to do."
"Mm okay. Let's believe what you said." Kyla turned around, and left Hugo's presence.
Karen met with Alde a few times with Vanessa being aware of all the meetings. They had found a way to curb Alde's predicament. But, they couldn't assure that it would overthrow the power of the full moon on any Lycan.
Cassy and Jarek had gotten real close, because Sasha and Angelo couldn't hide their feelings for each other, and that caused a little rift in Jarek and Angelo's friendship. "At this very young age!" Jarek screamed whenever he thought about it, and Cassy would just smile sheepishly. Jarek's aura couldn't be ignored by Cassy whenever he ranted about something, or when he smiled at her anytime she cracked a joke. Jarek always left her breathless - Angelo and Sasha noticed this, but Jarek was too slow to know what was going on around him.
Cassy had invited Jarek to her house, and they all welcomed him warmly. Karen was a little bit disturbed, but she did not want to ruin the happy moments. Alde and Vanessa joined them, even though it was a little bit awkward for the adults on the table, the two kids found so much joy in being together all day.
The guards dragged a young boy on the ground, his head protected with a head shield. They were protecting themselves from getting bitten. The boy's arms and legs were all tied up, to make sure he didn't try to get loose. The doctors were running weary until they met with luck. They had found the solution to vampires walking in daylight. The guards had told them what happened outside today. "At first, the body shines, he cried out, but after some seconds, he didn't burn, or showed any sign of burning." The head of the guards explained to Shin.
Shin Tae was very happy to hear this, and he asked one of the doctors to personally tell Boaz about it. They had tested it on thirteen vampires, now the fourteenth proved to be successful. The doctor dashed out of the lab.
Dylan stared at Figo, and they both nodded their heads as if they had talked for over thirty minutes, and had decided a way out of this secret basement. Immediately after the guards had left, Figo broke lose, he grabbed the first doctor, and twisted his neck. The rest of them panicked, seeing Figo killing one of theirs. The female doctor wanted to press the emergency button, but Figo got there before her, Figo ripped her heart out. Shin gasped for air. Suddenly, Figo grabbed his neck - He struggled to let go, but he couldn't. Figo went over to the table, took Dylan's phone, gave it to Dylan, and told him to notify the rest in case they don't make it out of here alive. Dylan still tied up, unlocked his phone, and started tapping on the screen.
Shin Tae finally left the grip of Figo. The fight was chaotic as they threw themselves anytime one of them got the chance to. Boaz entered shortly, seeing the mess he became so angry, but he asked for the solution first. Shin Tae who was close to the table where the solution was, took it, and threw it towards Boaz, but Figo caught it, and ran out immediately. Dylan had successfully sent a broadcast message to the members of The Pentagon, and had hidden the phone, placing it on "do not disturb."
Figo fought with the guards. Because they were humans, it was easy for Figo to find his way out of the secret basement. He ran as fast as he could.
"Well, well, well, I see your dog left you behind." Boaz said, walking towards Dylan. Dylan tried to free himself, but he couldn't, the belt strap was very strong, and caused Dylan pain anytime he tried to free himself. Figo got free because his belt wasn't as tight as Dylan's.
"You won't succeed with your plans." Dylan said.
"You think?" Boaz asked, smiling devilishly with his front teeth showing, and his grin as wide as it can be.
"I know." Dylan said, looking tough.
Hugo, Karen, Kyla, and Edward got the message from Dylan which read "Guys, Boaz is holding me hostage trying to find the solution that can make vampires walk in daylight, and they are using me as an experiment. In case I don't make it out alive, make sure you catch that bastard, and burn him immediately. I think Kyla's dream is not about what had happened eight years ago, it is about the worst that had ever happened in Askarvard. Everyone would be affected!" They could all imagine Dylan screaming in the last sentence.
Kyla, and the rest assembled in The Pentagon, planning on how to capture Boaz, and maybe release Dylan and Figo. Shortly, Figo entered panting heavily.
"They got my boss." Figo said, but none of them spoke, because they thought there was more Figo wanted to say, and with no surprise, Figo continued. "Boaz is trying to build an army of daywalkers. This is the solution they have prepared, and it had proven to have worked perfectly."
"They are how many in numbers?" Karen asked.
"About fourth now." Figo answered.
"Where is he?" Hugo asked.
Shin Tae walked over to a small drawer placed at the corner of the lab - Dylan, Boaz, and the rest in the room watched Shin. He opened the drawer, and brought out a small transparent bottle. He handed it over to Boaz.
"This is the solution I saved just in case things turned ugly." Shin said with a low tone.
Boaz grinned devilishly, and laughed out loud. "Shin! Incredible!!" He shouted, collecting the bottle from his hands.
He wasted no time in consuming the contents. After drinking, he stared at Shin. "What next?"
Dylan hoped it didn't work, maybe they would have to keep him for some days before ending his life.
It was 4:39PM the sun would soon set. Boaz went outside into daylight. His skin gradually burned as he became visible in sunlight. He widened his arms, moved further away from the entrance of the secret chamber, he closed his eyes, and gave his face a sunkiss. His skin burned, but he endured. Thereafter, his skin glowed, then healed; As it did, he smiled. "The end begins now." He said, still with his eyes closed, and his arms wide opened.
Shin adored Boaz in sunlight. "Master."
"Yes Shin."
"Should we turn -- erhmm."
"You mean the humans we have kept?"
"Yes Master."
"How many are they?"
"Minus the thirteen that had died, we have 204."
"We have gathered so much." Boaz said with his eyes closed, and arms wide opened. "They would underestimate us, and we will eat them raw like we did to the white wolves." He said, and laughed out loud.
