CHAPTER TWENTY SIX: MISSING

1636 Words
CHAPTER TWENTY SIX Kyla has proven to be the most confused soul in the past few days. She was on her way to Askarvard General Hospital; a few hours ago, she had called the doctor in charge of the bodies that was killed the day before, requesting for an autopsy for all the bodies, hoping she would find some clue about the death of Griffin. Alde on the other hand had been mourning his wife. He cried, but crying could not bring her back. Suddenly, he had some unexpected visitors, it was Hugo and the rest of the council. Dylan and Karen received a call from Hugo, stating they needed to go somewhere important, but they didn't know where. Only Kyla was absent because she had told Hugo about the visit to the hospital. After much deliberation, Kyla made it her mission to expose Alde as the killer. She made Hugo believe everything, and Hugo was walking the path she had made. "My condolences." Hugo said as he bowed down to Alde, then everyone bowed down to each other. Vanessa's burial rites was simple. A large photo of her almost covered in tulip flowers. You would see this immediately you open the door to the house. The sun shone upon the framed photo, and then closed. Hugo and the rest paid their respects to the dead, bowing severally to the dead. Behind Alde was a little girl, age 10, a plump face, curvy eyes, green eye balls just like Vanessa, and a little bit overweight. "I never knew she had this much friends." She said. After paying their respects to the dead, they requested a short session with Alde, and Alde agreed - he was hiding something, but he knew they wouldn't act rashly. "Could you spare a minute?" Hugo asked politely. "Sure." Alde replied politely, staring at Karen. "Hey Ivy, I will be back soon." Alde told the girl behind him when he saw she was following him to one of the empty rooms. After Ivy stopped following, they entered an empty room, and locked it behind them. "So, what's with the private discussion?" "Your wife… was she a werewolf?" Hugo asked. "Werewolf?" "Yes, werewolf." "Are you really asking me this?" "What do you mean? "Werewolves are just a myth, a feeble that we always use to scare off children. Now, you are asking me if my wife was one?" "Where is your son?" Edward asked. "That's what I should be asking you right now. My son hasn't been home yet, I don't know if he is dead or alive, and my wife is dead!" "In no time your son would be found." Hugo assured him. "What was the cause of your wife's death?" Hugo asked, and silence overruled. Kyla arrived at the hospital. She walked in greeting other nurses she was familiar with, and those were not familiar, when they saw her badge, they showed their respect. She met with an elderly doctor. "Hi Doctor Cho" Kyla greeted. "Kyla! You paid us a visit today." Doctor Cho, a man with grey hair, wearing a white labcoat. "You can say that." "I am quite sure you came here for a reason, and I'm 100% sure it is not for check up." Doctor Cho laughed as he said. "Came to grab some information from here." "Okay." As they were about to leave, Shin Tae showed his face. His face looked innocent. No one would ever know his true personality. Boaz scouted him and erased his past. Shin Tae was a Doctor in Askarvard General Hospital and he was well respected because he respected both the young and the old, making sure patients enjoy their time in the hospital regardless of his work. "Hi." Shin greeted Kyla. "Hello." She responded. Shin bowed down to Doctor Cho. "Tae…" "Doctor Cho." "How is everything going." "Very well Sir." Shin Tae replied, smiling. "It is good to have you working during the day again." "Thank you very much Sir." Doctor Cho turned to Kyla. "I will see you around later." He said. "Alright Doctor Cho." Kyla replied, leaving her with Shin. Shin Tae's smile was one of the most attractive amongst the people in Askarvard - That was one of his strength, and he used it everytime. "Have I ever seen you during the day?" Kyla asked Shin. As usual, Shin smiled. "I don't work during the day. Just started today." Shin replied. "Okay." "What brings you here?" "Came to check out the morgue." "Can I ask why?" "No." Kyla responded and left his presence immediately. Shin smiled as she left. "Goodluck." He said, watching Kyla's back, making a turn to the left, and getting out of sight. "That's not the way to the morgue, stupid." He said, and not too long, Kyla was in sight as she walked through the right corridor. When she opened the door to the office that leads to the morgue - a lady stood up to greet Kyla, and did not hesitate to ask Kyla why she came here. "Hi." She greeted. "Hi." "My name is Sarah, and why are you here?" "Came to check out the bodies that died yesterday." "Come this way." Sarah gestured to her. She went through a door inside the office. The room was a little bit bigger and cold. "This is the morgue. They have been preserved. But, the bodies were injured pretty bad. Some of their heads ripped off, some had their hearts removed. Never seen anything like it." Sarah said, and Kyla only nodded. "Anyways, the room is all yours." She said, wanting to leave, but Kyla stopped her. "You will need to help me." Kyla said. "Okay." Sarah responded not knowing what she was to do. Kyla moved around the morgue, some corpses on the right and some on the left. "Where are the bodies from yesterday?" Kyla asked. "Left." Sarah replied. Kyla opened the drawer one by one, checking the bodies. She was not really after the ones that died during the fight, she was after Vanessa's body. As Kyla wanted to open Vanessa's drawer, Sarah stopped her - Now, she knew the reason why she needed to stay. "You can't open that." Sarah said, and Kyla stared at her. "Why?" She asked. Alde explained to everyone how Vanessa died. "Yesterday, I and Vanessa went out with Karen, we wanted to meet Griffin and have a little party, but I was told that Griffin was busy. We went over to Karen's house to grab some drinks. We sent Cassy to meet Jarek here, and so she did. Late in the evening, we all came back in the evening except with Karen, because she received a call and it seemed very important. We didn't meet both Cassy and Jarek at home, and Vanessa offered to look for them. I stayed at home expecting Jarek and my wife, but hours went by and still, no trace of them. I was worried, and left home to look for them. After hours of searching, I saw Vanessa's body lying on the floor - I was heartbroken and devastated" He began to cry. "I lost my wife and can't find my son again." He said, crying even more. "Why can't I touch it?" Kyla asked again when she saw that Sarah won't answer. "The victim's husband forbade anyone from touching his wife's corpse." "Why?" "Reason best known to him. We are just following protocols." "Okay." Kyla said, feeling defeated. Suddenly, she ran to where Vanessa was kept, and drew the drawer. "What are you doing?" Sarah exclaimed, and stopped Vanessa before she finishes drawing the drawer completely. Kyla saw a scar on Vanessa's leg. She felt so sure that the mark was from a werewolf or maybe her husband, Alde, because he is a Lycan. She and Sarah was panting softly. Sarah left Kyla alone, but making sure she was close to her. When nothing else could be done, she surrendered and left and Sarah closed the door behind her. Hugo stared at Alde as well as the remaining in the room. Hugo sighed. "Well, sorry for your loss" Hugo said with utmost sympathy, and Alde could feel it. "Thank you." "We will make sure we find your son in no time." Hugo assured. "Alright. Thank you." "Thank you for your time." Hugo thanked him. Hugo and the rest stood up and Alde joined them. He opened the door for them and they all exited Alde's house. Karen, Dylan, and Alde made eye contact and greeted themselves without saying a word. Outside Alde's house, they all walked to the bus they carried. "Did you believe his story?" Edward asked. "For some reasons I do. You know, a brutal war occured yesterday, and that was the time Vanessa went to look for her son, and that's when Alde did not find both his son and his wife." "So, you believe him." "I need to. Except we see his son, and ask him some questions." "Okay." Karen got home, and her subordinates went to meet her. They looked furious, and Karen wasted no time in noticing that. "What's wrong?" She asked the three ladies, standing in front of her, but no one answered. "Someone should tell me what is going on." She said again, but there was no response. Cassy emerged. "What is wrong Cassy? Why are you all looking like this?" Karen asked her daughter. "Jarek is missing." Cassy let the cat out of the bag, and that cat would weaken Karen's emotional state. Karen took her phone and called Dylan. Dylan picked on second ring. "He is missing." Karen said. "Who is missing?" Dylan asked. "Jarek, Alde's son. He is missing." "What?" Hugo was beside Dylan all this time, and Hugo curiously asked. "What's wrong?" "Nothing, One." Dylan replied.
