Chapter 12-His Thoughts

1322 Words
Dylan "Fine sir." Her voice rang throughout my ears. I had never had this much fun since she left. Laying on my bed half naked, my arm was placed behind my head as I stared up into the cieling. You would think I would be sleeping by now seeing I hadn't had a good night sleep in ages but today I had a hard time just closing my eyes. After getting of the phone with her, I wanted to march towards her home for the disrespect she had shown me even after I had helped her with her son. And yet it amuses me, she amuses me. Who knew teasing her would be this much fun. I'm going to rather enjoy this. It's been years since I had a good laugh and yet hear I am laughing and smiling to myself like a fool. I can't even remember the last time I had laughed this hard. After I had left her apartment, I had called a good friend of mine who works at the lab in the hospital. Now all I need to do is wait for the DNA results for her son and I. Sure I was not his father but that doesn't mean the DNA will come out negative. On the contrary it will prove to be the opposite. Morning couldn't come any faster. And I was becoming to get restless. For the first time I had looked forward to going to work. For reasons unknown. ***** After my shower I had put on a nice Armani suit with my usual black tie and leather shoes. Making sure my hair is slick back. Couldn't go to work sloppy now can I. Arriving at work I had greeted my workers with a smile only to recieve a shock look on their face. "Goo...good morning Mr. Saunders." Macy greeted. With a nod I looked at the desk that stood outside of my office, the desk that belongs to her now. "Mr. Saunders we have the things you requested." One of my employees was now carrying a bag full of stuffs, just stuff. "Where would you like that set up." "There." I pointed to my office. "Just a few of it and the blanket, the rest will go to the next floor below us." Looking at my clock it was not yet 8 but it should be soon so instead I sat on my desk just waiting. One more minute and she should be walking through my doors. If she's not here by the time... "I'm here." The woman panted into my office. Removing that smile from my face I watch her carrying a sleeping Jack in her arms. "You're late." I scolded. "Only a minute late." She defended. "Have a seat and you can place Jack there." I watch her look back probably confused as to why I had set a small quilt surrounded by toys for his age. "Over there?" She asked confused. "Yup." I wasn't going to explain myself. It's just that if she has to bring her son to work I might as well make sure he keeps busy so he doesn't disturb us when working. I already sent out an announcement through email to my employees of an addition I just added today. I'm sure my employees have kids of their own and would like it if it was easier to just bring their kids to work. Setting Jack down she sat at the chair that was in front of my desk fiddling her thumb. "Let's get down to business." I started. "You are not just my secretary but also my personal assistance. You will learn how things work and how I do things my way. You will do my reports as well as the presentations and if I go on business trips you will come with me." "What about Jack?" "What about him?" "Who will watch Jack?" "What about your father?" I recall her mentioning him to me. "Well I wouldn't exactly leave Jack in his care?" "And why not? He is his grandfather and speaking of which when will you be moving to a home that is near my building?" Since I had claimed her son as my own and if word gets out that he is living in a shack people will talk and people will think otherwise. She had remained quiet like the answer she knew, she didn't. And I take it she still didn't know where her father was. What kind of man leaves his daughter and her kid at home alone especially in that kind of neighbor hood. "Does he always do this?" "Do what?" "Leave you for days." "Um...yeah." she nervously chuckled. I wanted her to move into one of my apartment's already and get away from that neighbor hood. If she goes out at night especially the with the boy who knows what would happened and quite frankly that place she lives in isn't kid friendly. "Could you not move in and someone let your father know. Call him or something." "We don't have phone. I had to cut it off last months." My fist was ow clenching, guess that's why she never answered any of my calls. "Well you have the cell I gave you, use it. I am the first one on your list of contact. Now this will be your salary a month." Taking out a piece of paper I handed it to her and her eyes had done a back flip. I laughed inwardly at her reaction. "Are you sure? This is a lot of zeros for just being a secretary." "That is nothing compared to what you will be doing for me." Her face fell probably thinking of all the work she needs to do. "What about my old boss?" "I already spoke to him. Aside from that you and your son will be getting medical benefits and a 401 k plan." "Eeek." Soon she was jumping in her seat when her face had lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. "Are you joking?" "Ms. Stone, I don't joke." "I had already sent your first pay check into your account." "Wait, I haven't even started working and how the hell do you know my account." "Let's just say if you quit on me, you will pay back the money with interest so this is my insurance if you decided to quit before the month is over." Her mouth dropped, "Who the hell says I'm going to quit!" "And as for school...." "I'll take online classes." She excitedly answered. "Good, and I expect you to get top grades. I can't have my PA getting below average in school now can I." Coming around my desk she instantly threw her body on me, engulfing me in a hug, "Thank you so much for this great opportunity." Her voice had trembled in shear happiness. I of course remained stoic. Releasing me I had already missed her warmth. "Your desk is just right outside my office, there are instructions and paper work that needs to be done, that's your first assignment and it should be done before lunch." She was just smiling as I watch her walked to her desk and I waited until she stormed back in, "That load of crap done before lunch." Minutes ago she was shouting in happiness now she is fuming in anger. I must admit her desk is covered from manila folders and loose papers that needed to be categorized and typed on the computer, "I couldn't even see my desk let alone my chair." Looking at my clock, "You have four hours to get those done, the clock is ticking." Clenching her fist she huffed before heading back out while I had leaned against my chair, my eyes now locked on a sleeping little boy while I listened to her grumble underneath her breath, today will be a very good day.
